Just finished watching James May on SBS. He is a crazy nut that takes a kids toy or similar and builds real size.
Recently did a model Airfix Spitfire kit and fished up with group of school kids helping build real size fiberglass model. Tonite he had a go with Meccano to build a bridge. Unfortunately you youtg whipper snappers have no idea of the joy and pleasure of Meccano. Stuff your playstation crap.

A lot of us young whippersnappers grew up with Lego which is 1000 times more awesome than your Meccano (and I had Meccano too)

Yeah we had meccano. I hated it, leggo technic was where it's at. Once I got my playstation, well, leggo never saw the light of day lol.

I've only ever watched the Lego house episodes. Pretty cool though! I'll definitely have a look at the other episodes, hes a very interesting bloke, enjoyable to watch.

i grew up with mechano, lego and all that, and even though im only 25 i loved it, one thing my parents did well was lack of playstation til i was 14 haha
as traumatic as that was, ill be doing the same to my kids when theyre old enough, theyll be using things like this, only on rainy days will the electronic crap come out... the show is awesome, hes very clever and entertaining...

thats it, i got a ps2 about 2 years after they came out haha everyone had gran turismo and medal of honour and the like and i had model car kits and a backyard bwahahaha

I didn't get my first game console until I was in my twenties...
When I was a 'young whippersnapper' it was all about Commodore 64 and games like Choplifter, World Games, Impossible Mission and Road Rash.

Had Sega 1 and 2 consoles in the early 1990s (as a 10 year old).

Top series that, isn't it?
I've still got a huge box of Lego, and I'll agree that Technic is great...it's for adults who can pretend they've bought it for the grandkids... I also liked the episode about Hornby model trains. I'm working on a four by eight foot layout in our spare room at the moment...erm...purely for the grandkids you understand...

I watched a few of the episodes when I went to LA only one I want to watch is the airfix. As a kid I loved lego and model trains so it was good watching them and the Scalextric one was impressive. I've been doing plastic kits on and off my entire life so it will be impressive to see the airfix.
I've been to Legoland, CA and it was impressive with their display's. Mini new york is at least 7' tall. Video games should only be a replacement to watching TV or movies not anything else.
