Hi all,
I was doing a bit of a search and found a link to a site for "PPM-RACING" http://www.pureperformancemotorsport...roducts_id=454 I saw they have rods and pistons available for "AU Xr6 Turbo" stating "This Combo is good for 1500BHP+ " I myself, have not head of Pure Performance Motorsport but for the price that seems to be good value for the strength they are quoting? Has anyone dealt with this company/website, and can this combo really take 1500hp? Thanks, Matt

Never heard of this company, but have saved them to favourites now lol nice find.
Not a bad price at all actually. Would definately be a big consideration if going turbo on an AU. Having said that the Atomic 698kw rotating assembly for the AU is like $3.5k+ There are cheap piston and rod combos out there, but you pay for what you get.

Yeah that’s what I was worried about. Price seems too good to be a decent combo imho..
Wanted to see if anyone has tried and tested them to see if they are legit, but seems nobody has lol

This won't necessarily be of much help, but check for the guy with the twin turbo EB XR8, he built an AU 4L with forged internals for his son for much less than the Atomic combo at similar strength. I haven't got time now but from memory it's something like Spool rods and CP Pistons, have a search around if you can
If I recall correctly, he imported them for around the same price as that combo there.. |

If I was building an AU Turbo. I would definately go for this rod and piston combo. What I was getting at with the atomic combo is price seems a little high for what your getting.
I wouldnt want to spend more than $2200 on rods and pistons. Hell I have forged manley rods and pistons in my xr8 and I didnt spend that much!! lol

I'd be taking the 1500+bhp with a grain of salt. You would want some written guarantee that the company will be providing you with a water tight clause to replace any pistons/rods etc should your engine grenade up to that power and the pistons were the cause of the fault.

From another forum,

And blueoval, I think you'll find that companies won't be able to do that because it's very much tune related. Whilst I'm not 100% sure whether it's possible to kill stronger forged internals, tune seems to be a factor in how long XR6T's last with various 'standard' internals. The other factor is of course, how 'abused' the car gets. I'm sure if you speak to Bruce about it, he'd be able to enlighten you on the matter if you decide to go down that path |

Do tuffcarparts do a deal for the two?
I saw SPOOL rods for $780, which I think is reasonable. http://www.spoolimports.com/content/...RBOCONRODS.asp

That guy that bought the pistons above got the pistons and rods from Justin. The pistons were $1580 or thereabouts.
Hiboost from Turbologic racing was doing a good deal on rods and pistons on boostedffalcon.net a few weeks ago. He might still have good prices.

Another bloke on ****************** just bought a set of PPM pistons and rods for his AU motor too. NOt sure what he paid but he said there was some issue getting CP pistons in the right size.
He was going to buy spool rods and ended up with PPM. Couldnt tell if that meant they were the same product or not.
