All this from someone who probably things that any form of rugby is a sport as if you aren't talented enough to kick a ball, you are allowed to walk it over the line and place it on the ground. Mind you some aren't smart enough or co-ordinated for that, so they just fall on the ball instead.

Gridiron is even worse, they don't have to put the ball down they just run over the line.

AFL doesnt bother me until the tv station dedicates the whole afternoon to it...... i'm in NSW dammit.. make the AFL fans up here go and search for coverage, you dont see horse racing plastered all over tv.

The only sport I cant stand is Soccer...... the only sport where a 0-0 game constitutes the right to beat the **** out of each other and damage public property.

It's just that all the rugby fans suffer from inferiority complex due to their little competition only being cared about by two states and are jealous of the Australia wide popularity of AFL. This causes them to try an justify themselves by constantly sledging AFL players and supporters.

What gets me is that here in Aus it's all league, league, league but when ya take the sport international it's only union that people care about.
I follow the wallabies slightly and don't mind watching them but league just sh*ts me to tears and i don't care who, where, when or how the international league side is playing.

Take a look at the crowd figures as another example of AFL's superiority over rugby.

It will be interesting to see if Soccer becomes the dominant sport now that they seem to have the national series sorted out and the socceroos in the world cup finals.
Soccer already has the highest participation rates of any sport in australia!!

How many league teams are in Sydney and how many AFL teams are in Melbourne? That could explain individual stadium crowd numbers.

There is 10 teams in Melbourne and if I read correctly 11 teams in NSW.

If you look at the NRL it seems it's at the level of the VFL as the stadiums (with the exception of Telstra Stadium) dont seem to hold that many fans. Wasn't there some big crowd problem in this years finals with the W/tigers?

If you also look at the worth of the teams the richest club in the NRL (Brisbane) is at the same level as the AFL's poorest club (Richmond).
