Default K&N filters...

are they worth it?

does anyone have a K&N flat panel filter in their AU? combine that with the Tickford Snorkel and are they worth the 90 bucks or whatever they cost?

I have a redlien filter in mine ... inside the airbox .. it lasts longers ... and is reusable ... saves money in the long run ... and can be beneficial in airflow as well.

I run a K&N in my XR8 and I personally do believe they help in performance and economy.

Small gain, definately more for throttle response and driveability, than power. Worth the $150 (together) in the long run. Save on paper filters, and the small gains both powerwise and fuel economy wise.

My Redline filter was $85 .... does the same thing as the K&N ... also has a more rigid outer edge on it as well.

definatly get it and couple with the bigger intake..

Have only cleaned my K&N twice and I have had it it for 4 years.. First clean was a little over due, but the second didn't really need it.....

Performance Filter minimal difference! I can't tell the difference, but if it was 1 or 2 kw who could? You never have to replace a filter again & dyno tests have them up there which is a good thing . Don't believe all the massive "who ha" about what you hear they do help but don't expect a huge power increase.

I put the K&N filter in along with the snorkel. To me the difference was very noticeable. But then again that could be because the old paper filter was overdue for replacement. Otherwise worth doing. Cost me close to $200 for both but thats country prices for you.
