Where things are fixed with field campaigns and recalls...then when the warrenty ends things start to break...

It would cost Ford money, which they are loath to do in such bad times.
And in reality it just means an extra 2 years of "they all do that" while the dealership tries to fob off your warranty issues. |

I've had my Focus lowered, with a rear camber kit in the back, got a cold air intake on there and played a bit with the factory wiring for my spot lights.
Warranty, whats that? Built Ford Tough, don't need your warranty. Anyways, from what I hear its easier getting blood out of a stone than warranty claims from Ford. |

Your mitsubishi needs to be serviced at the 15000k intervals or at least once a year at a dealership to keep their warranty. |

Hyundai/Kias warranty changes to 5 years/130,000km when the vehicle is registered as a commercial vehicle.
I'm pretty sure Mitsubishi's drivetrain warranty changes to 5/130 as well when registered commercially. |

Maybe If Ford offered a decent 5 year unlimited or 200K during the GOOD times they would not be in BAD times 3 years / 100k is a joke |

100 000 km is just run in lol
3 years and my RTV had clocked up 185 000km i realisitically couldnt expect warranty after those sort of km, its just not viable.

3yr warranty is great. It's better than the 2yrs i misled myself i had as I didn't bother to read the documentation with the car.
I've never used a Ford warranty for anything of significance. Mitsubishi yes.

Mitsubishi rolled out big warrantees on the 380 in an attempt to stove off the inevitable. I wonder if Ford have have that in mind. To avoid looking like they may be clutching at straws so to speak. One thing I will give Mitsubishi, since the demise of the 380, they certainly have made up some market ground which I think could be attributed, in part, to their warranty program.
Having said that though. I have always perceived that the Falcon was always designed for longer ownership than the average asian car. In so far as owners keep their Falcons for a relatively long time before they sell, whereas your typical hyundai, Kia, chery, insert next brand here, owner was on the way through with regard to ownership. 3 to 5 years and gone so to speak. If this assumption has any merit, surely the Falcon platform can handle a long period of warranty standing on its head. All the issues I've ever had with a Ford product have occurred in the first 12 months, and are usually inconvenient issues rather than showstoppers! A longer warranty could have the potential to improve resale values, thus make leasing more attractive. Plus open the market a little more to the those people who take the warranty period into great consideration when making a purchase, thus tipping back in favour of a Ford/Falcon based product. In short. I'm there. A longer warranty is something that Ford should have adopted some time back. 5 year 130K minimum I reckon. |

Is the 3 yr warranty good enough? No.
Not compared to many other makes out there. Regardless, Fords attitude toward warranty repairs is disgusting. Rust in a 3 month old Fiesta took the NSW dept of Fair Trading to force Ford to replace all the parts it said was fine. The final cost to Ford was $10K. Faults with Fiesta dsg boxes are also written off as "characteristics" of the car until people force the issue (and an "update" is supplied.... if it were a characteristic why the need for an update?) Ford must match Hyundai/Kias 5yr unlimited km warranty to lift it's sales and then back this up with decent service. |
