Interesting result to the auction. 2 guys in a bidding war (I wonder at what price other bidders dropped out) will often result in a price that is "over the odds". A couple of years ago at the Grand Prix Shannons auction there was a Ferrari Dino with an exceptional history and condition, expected to sell for $120k, that went for nearly $200k all because 2 people both wanted it. Not many Phase 3's come up for sale on the open market, this is the result.

Not so much egos as it was a top example of the car and they were adhering to the buying rule of "buy the best car you can" and obviously had the dough. There are lots of other examples eg the low-km HDT cars in the past year or so that have gone for very good money, or the very last Valiant made ~mid $30k's. Some cars you will easily find another one if you miss on a particular car, some you won't, so if you are set on buying one you have to pay the price.

Seems to me there are more HOs around today, 33 years after they rolled off the line, than Ford ever made.... |

Sure does. Ford originally built 300 P3's, today only 1150 original cars are believed to remain _ |
