Default swapping cars with dealership

I have an FG. The BF is alot better looking in my opinion. I want some info on how swapping cars with dealerships happens. Can someone tell me how this works so I can jump in the bf and get rid of the fg? thanks.

Unless youre best mates with the DP, then they go by their own vehicle assessment of your car & its market value. It still somehow works out that you have to give them money. In my experience anyway, as I have actually enquired about this before.

Find a BF that has a sale price equal to the trade price of your FG ? Isn't it this easy ?

OP, try as much as you can to get money coming your way.
But keep in mind and understand, that dealerships & used car lots are there to make money come their way, if this wasn't the case, I cannot see how they can stay in business by letting money go the customer's way.

You would be lucky to even find a bf in a dealers yard for starters.

i have back traded before. VS commodore swapped for a charade with cash my way..

was trying to sell my commodore private to buy a charade anyway and found the car i wanted on a used car lot.

usual story, test drive the car you want, they check out what you are trading and you both negotiate on prices/changeover from there. at the time i just wanted out of the commodore as it was using way too much fuel so i cut my losses and got out of it.

sell your car privately then go in with cash that's the best way to come out in front

Have you driven a BF after the FG? Perhaps you may change your mind.

If your looking to "swap" prepare to be sliced.

Example; way back when I was looking to "swap" my FG XR6T (black, low km's and in excellent condition) for a BK Mazda 3 MPS with more km's and in not as good condition and was told "clean swap". Now the T would have sold for at least $10k more than what they had on the BK, but dealerships, like any business, exist to make money....not perform favours...

Stick with the FG. Unless your THAT keen on the BF that your prepared for a cash bonfire...

Is it just the looks of the FG which are the issue? Even FG XTs can look pretty good with a little effort ..

I prefer the BF over the FG after driving my mates g6et for months. Bought a bf xr6t 6 spd manual, it's definitely a less refined car compared to the FG but I'm glad I went BF.

As previously stated, I have not seen a b series in the dealerships for a long time, better off doing it privately.

Simple answer....... Dealer will do any deal/swap as long it benefits them.

Is there any finance on the FG?

If yes, depending on how much you owe they may not allow you to trade back.
If no, you would be better off advertising your FG privately slightly under market value to move it quickly, then hunt around for the BF you want.
Yes you will lose a bit on the value of your FG, but you can pick it up on the purchase of the BF.

Understand that there's usually a circa 30% difference between retail and wholesale. (e.g. If your car has say a retail of $30K, its wholesale is probably only about $21K.) As long as you're prepared to take a wholesale price for your car and pay retail for another one any deal is potentially do-able but I've had my fill of lining dealers pockets so I'd be looking to sell your's privatly if I were you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but i've had BF2 and FG and really can't see a lot of difference in how they look, certainly nothing worth getting a new one drilled by a dealer for, that's for sure. My 2 cents.
