BA's are indeed nice, I've had the pleasure of taking my uncle's work cars out for a spin.. Fairmont Ghia and XR6 (non turbo ). They go bloody hard, but to be honest I find the AU more enjoyable...

I know what you mean! The AU's got that raw feel, and the steering gives you a lot more feedback.

Then again, once you get used to the BA and the way it handles, you can have some serious fun in it!

There should be a big difference between the AU and the VP. There's about 8-10 years between the models.
Quickly drove a VR yesterday and boy I'm glad I've got the BA. Ford have a great setup on these cars. A mate that drives a 98 318i took the BA for a spin and was quite impressed with the handling.

Even after stepping from a friend's VR to my ED or my brother's EF there is a big difference in smooth power delivery.

The VP was a good car - bless her - and served me well over the 3 years of ownership. I thought it had impressive torque.. then I drove the AU. Not really into revvy engines, I like grunt down low; the Falcon does this superbly. Thinkin of the DEV2 kit from JMM....... $1500 however.. ouchies.

As for the BA vs AU, im sure theres a bit of owner bias in my appraisal... I took the BA XR6 for a run around Williamstown (Victoria), roads there are shocking........ and I mean like donkey-track style shocking, anyway I was very impressed with the way the XR handled, took the bumps and potholes with good grace. My AU has sports suspension so it handles much the same as the XR :

Have to agree with your signature there Venom - when I purchased my AU it had tickford badges on the flanks and boot. Fair enough it has tickford rims and a tickford build plate, but its an AUIII Futura/Fairmont hybrid.. not an XR. Took em off. Looks cleaner. Removed ugly Futura badge.

What the F**k were you doing with a VP anyway? lol

I would be happy too if I drove a car 8 years older then my VL, but really was it a shock that it was so much better to drive then your VP?

Dont mean to take the p*ss out of ya but yeah of course its going to be a different type of animal to drive.
