Default Strange Whine from front of car...

My Ghia has started to make a weird squeal/whining noise and it seems to be coming from the front of the car, most likely the engine. It has only done 86k so it cant be anything too drastic I hope. Just wondering if anyone else has experience this noise? It happens under mild engine load around 2500rpm at about 60-80km/h. Can really notice the sound whilst in the Eastern distributer and other motorists seemed to have noticed it too its quite loud!! If anyone has any ideas of what it could be and what can be done would be greatly appreciated if you could share them!

Cheers,
Dave

fan belt? is the car in question the one in your sig? ef's have thermos and the accessory drive belt is self tensioned. it say its the idler bearing as well. there is 2 of them. could also be the bearing in your altenator or a/c compressor.

Pick N Payless is a huge block of land, with wrecked cars, 1000's of them..
Every make and model.
you pay a $2 entry fee, take your tools, and go get the parts you want, bring them up the front pay for them and your on your merry way.

I love the place, when I have kids im going to take them there, its like Wonderland.

Strange whining/squealing from the front of your car? Sounds like you might have a female in the car with you. Does it get louder the faster you go?
