Hi guys. I look in from time to time, and am surprised that there has not been any discussion in regards to the Ford Class Action regarding the Focus? Myself and many others have joined this action due to the poor treatment that we have received from Ford. I just feel that although I "was" a staunch Ford man. How the treatment of this company has made me realise that it means little to this organisation. If you own a Focus, or intend to buy one, then you certainly need to know about the FACTS before purchasing. Or before you encounter problems. Because at the end of the day. You will be left in the dark, as Ford Australia refuses to take responsibility for the lemons that they are selling to the public.. Before you purchase, or before you get problems. You need to look at these two links...

you may be angry but incorrect statements do not help your cause. the fact that ford changed transmission types after the fault tells you a lot. how do you say it applys to current models?

LZ Focus with Powershift Trans is whats fitted to the Ambiente in the US and Europe. They continue to use the transmission, its just Ford Australia chose not to bring the Ambiente to Australia in the LZ, just like we don't get many spec of models here. Manual 2.2L Everest is another example.

Is this comment related to me? If so. I have both a 2011 LW Focus Sport Sedan, and a 2011 LW Trend Hatch. Both are ******. And although there has been a recent face-lift. They are the current model...

The class action against Ford has been dropped.
Bannister Law (law firm representing the class action) has since gone under due to the incurred costs of the no-win-no-fee structure they entered. A friend of mine in the Perth office lost her job because of this.

Wow, fair enough. My apologies. However, it still remains that Ford are still selling used LW's to unsuspecting buyer's, knowing full well of the problems they have... Can I assume you are the owner of an LZ? If so. I thought the LW was awesome too when I first got it! Just hope you never need to have any failures fixed... Your fanboy tune may not be so evident... Just saying.

Ford have been offering affected customers some nice drive away deals (healthy trade ins) on new model Ford's they want to move.

I think in comparison to the Audi CVT disaster and the VW DSG disaster its probably been handled the best of the lot

I just took my wife's 2014 Focus Trend in for its 3 year service, my wife didn't have any concerns although when I occasionally drive it I sometimes get the shudder issue but most of the time when you give a decent amount of throttle it is fine. Anyway when I took it in they asked any issues I said no but there must be some sort of service bulletin out there to check the transmission for shudder as when I got it back they said they would replace the clutch and shaft seal at no cost which is happening in 2 weeks. I was told that they have been fitting new clutches since Oct 16. The new part number is F1FZ-7B546-B versus the old BV6Z-7B546-F. I assume it is just a new clutch material and some associated calibration changes. Has anybody had this done and is actually aware of the changes and noticed improvements? Overall, I enjoy driving the car as its reasonably zippy and corners well. Shame about the stupid sports manual mode operation which they have continued on with in the new model. I always seem to get service and backup from my Ford dealer.

Yes we had the new ceramic clutch fitted in February. So far so good.

I have 2012 Titanium and it had a second clutch installed about 5 weeks ago. Prior to this I had the usual shudders - not too bad but annoying. Since the new clutch went in, it has been very good. I actually enjoy driving the car again and often just take the car for a drive as it is so much more pleasant to drive now. Note that I said that the new clutch is only about 5 weeks old so will be interesting so see how it goes in the long term in say 6 moths and then in a year's time. I really hope that this new clutch continues the same way as it is now. Hope yours turns out well but for the moment I am very happy with this new clutch. It may be my imagination but after the new clutch was installed, I think the car now runs much more smoothly and quieter than before. |

Yes agree it works really well but only time will tell. Re class action have letter from Bannister Law yesterday asking to sign off on ''litigation funding''. I guess this means that signees pay! Probably will sign up but wonder how this action will go now. In our case the servicing dealer has been good applied software upgrades and new clutches ( 4 in 58000km) provided a loan car to minimise disruption if booked a few days before. And now Ford have extended the warranty to 7 years on the powershift transmission.
So our car which is a Fiesta purchased new for 16 k will be good for 7 years at least as the rest of the car has given no issues whatsoever apart from a broken plastic bonnet clip fixed under warranty. So if we keep it say 7.5 years and its worth nothing it has had a capital cost of approximately $2300 a year pretty good in my eyes. |

litigation funders take a large part of any settlement because they advance the funds and take a risk that the action will fail and they lose their funds.
