Cleaning my car today i noticed the some seals have shrunks within just over a month of me owning the car ! , looking from inside the car at the small rear windows on the passenger doors , down the bottom between the seal and the door trim i now have nice big gaps , and what looks like chipboard or something in the gap showing. This is rediculous ! - my old XE had the original seals from day 1 until the day i sold it and i never had seals shrink this much ! , has anyone else noticed a gap inbetween the doortrim and rear small windows on the rear passenger doors ? ( bottom of small rear windows seal has shrunk ) . ??

Mine's been like that since I had it. It does look a bit off from outside the car.
Maybe get the windows tinted? _2: |

They are tinted ! - just looks like they arent in 1 of those pics because the sun was shining straigh on the window on the 1 side . It definatelly wasn't like this when i bought the car , and its only sat outside in the sun on a few occasions since i've had it - i find this appualing , cheap assss seals .

Also i had the doors open with the sun shining on the effected areas so i had enough light for the pictures , is why it looks so shiny too. And i do have a fairly dark tint too ! .

Thats normal from when they are only a couple of months old, i think our AU II Mont had it when we picked it up brand new...
Typical AU poor quality, I wouldnt let it worry you.

I know ill be jamming a strip/rubber seal of some kind in the gap soon to fill it in, it looks horrid !, I just can't believe of all the things / to have something like this happen , you think they would of fixed the problem with shrinking seals 20 years back ! - as i said before , even my old XE's seals didn't shrink this much (lol and that was 20 years back nearlly!), and that was a pure black car + black interior ( it got hot as hell !). I know you say i wouldnt let it worry you but when you just paid 10,000 not long ago, you don't expect stuff like this to happen !. Really poor quality Ford ! - sad to say :( .

I have the eaxt same problem. 1 was ok the other was so bad, that the gap was about 10mm. So ford replaced the bad one under warranty. The other one, we just got a black marker pen and coloured it black. The gap was very minor. So its like a little touch up. The cork was showing through, not by much.
The problem is the plastic on the rear quarter. At the bottom it should be deeper, but its not. If it was bigger by 10 - 20 mm, you would never notice it. So far no movemement in them and its been 2 and a half years since they were repalced. |

As i stated the seals were not like that when i bought it , so i wouldnt be suprised if they were replaced just before i bought it , And only $10,000 or not , seems to of happened to other peoples AU's on here too ! , so dont blame the 10,000 price ! , its in as good nic as any i've seen for an extra $5000 or more ..lol - just poor quality by ford ! .
