If you have the EEC-1V type air box and you have grafter the tickford snorkel on to it already you can try what I did to my son's EF. You put flexi tubu from the bottom of the box through a hole you make through the sheet metal to the inner guard area and it runs to the induction vent on the lower front. Tight fit past the ABS gear (thats why flexy tube) but gets S**T loads of air and is totally out of sight.

Maybe a bonnet vent above the box with a sealed intake to the box?

I Bought car with Tickford snorkel and thought id be like all the others and get a SS induction truthfully not worth the money and what else is a waste of money is a 3" mandrel bent pipe"PAid $250 made by Liverpool exhaust"
rubs on bonnet and manifold and really has nothing on a BA I6 intake. Intake get a redline or k&n filter then tickord snorkel and just enjoy driving the thing.

SS Induction and other brands are usually well over priced.. go for the offical tickford snorkel with a k&n.. Iv just got my AU Forte, so very little has been done to it.. Iv put a tickford snorkel on, so far.
But from my expirence owning a v6 commodore. I found the offical Super6 intake setup was not only alot cheaper than SS Inductions.. but when running it against my mates commodore of the same model with all the same mods.. cai, extractors, exhaust.. He had the SS CAI and a basic filter.. 9/10 times I pulled out in front. I dont know if it was my offical cai and k&n setup or just the car in general.. but there was a difference. Just dont go for a Pod Filter.. like all rice mods, they dont work. Unless u buy the best, and have an awesome setup.. other than that, use the Tickford or mod ur own.

Yeah from ive heard cutting a hole under the airbox and running a 2.5" pipe works really well.

mines got a 90mm hole in front with pipe up to back of headlight and then another 90mm hole on side opposite the access hole where small hoses and wiring goes into guard ,works well picked up heaps of induction noise,
I also made small plastic thingy that sits into bar grille to direct air up more into stock snorkel aswell , costs nothing so worth a try ,also can just tape up if economy suffers |

Just been to the ford parts dealer myself. Dont think the guy had an idea what i was after... Was trying to get a tickford snorkel for my AU Fairmont 6cyl. He sounded pretty confused, and said the only thing on the list of fairmont was the standard one, and the only other listing by itself was an XR8 snorkel. Would XR8 snorkel fit a 6 cyl AU?

Yes, the XR8 snorkle is the one you want.

I have the tickford snorkel and ef/el box lid with the bigger outlet. I am thinking of upgrading to a pod from the K&N panel that's in there. I am also doing some research into nibbling out a hole in the bonnet directly in front of the snorkel and guiding air directly in there.
Have standard lights so no airflow behind them like the XR's, and decided not to go ducting under the car as it would pick up the warmer air near the road. I'm also trying to maximise efficiency by only having one inlet into the box so they aren't competing. |
