Default EL to AU Auto swap.

Hi,

would an auto from an EL falcon, part number 94 DA 7000 BB, fit an AU Falcon 6 cylinder. Are the bellhousings the same?
Any help would be much appreciated.

i put a ba 4 spd 6 cylinder auto in my el
unbolt bolt up connect wiring and drove
some say the ba had different internal solenoids but it seemed to run alright to me
the ef el and au i hear are meant to be the same but the ef has the dipstick (i think) and the el is meant to be the stronger box from what ive heard but otherwise all are same same box

94DA part number indicates an EF box. 94DA and 95DA are EF age boxes. 96DA prefix is an EL box.

Only major difference is the removal of the dipstick in the 96DA box.

But yes they otherwise fit, bolt up and work fine. Its been done many times before.

No. The 6 main top bolts are identical, but the lower bolts are different. EL bottom bolts are connected to 2 alloy brackets that are bolted to the side of the block and are in a different spot. AU sump is cast to specifically match bolt pattern on an AU box.

But you can slide the converter off and swap the bellhousing if you want and makes you more comfortable. Otherwise people have successfully used E-series housing to AU block before.

Thank you very much for the info.

Mods, kick this back to the driveline threads.
