Default Commodores

what does everyone think of holdens mechanically, i think their as good if not maybe abit better than fords

i think fords are alright cars but i drive a 1989 model VN SS the straight six 4lt motors in the EF and EL fords are fairly powerful but they're not much to look at imo their an ugly motor and are 140ish or 150kw's? with 355nm torque my 5 litre is 165kw stock and has 385 torque and it only goes through 2 litres more petrol per 100km's than the ford 94-98 straight six's and their almost 10 years newer than my ss also it might have something to do with my vn ss being 1350kg's

Ford: More top end power, heavier, bigger, better handling, better interior, nicer looking exterior, cheap to repair, better drivability.

Holden: Crap drivability, ****ty interior, lack of top end power from V6 model, crappy auto's (mechnical auto's went out the door with our EA 3 speed, it's called electronics holden!) and various other bad points.

Each to their own, but fords seem to win for me.

the straight six 4 litre wouldnt be a bad motor if ford could manage to lighten their vehicles and stop them being so thirsty holden shiit all over ford in fuel economy and the ecotec v6 is a good motor by the way!

XR6T > *.*

That pretty much sums it up - the VE SS is already taken care of

I have a 1992 EB XR6, and before I put the turbo on I lost count of the number of 5 litres commos I wasted.

UNR8D on these forums used to have an NL fairlane, auto, I6, with light headwork, cam, chip, exhaust, and that thing used to smash 5 litres as well.

I think you are going to find our opinions are somewhar one-sided, but what else can you expect?

Holden are masters of marketing.
