I would like you guys to help me decide what car i should buy.
Any suggestions will be considered (unless its a holden lol). (I have a budget of around $6000 cash. I can always pay things off up to about $10000).

Settle down, it doesn't quite work like that!
Have a browse around carsales.com.au and the tradingpost etc. There are some cheap Falcons on gas.

Anyway... I would say the ED XR/Fairmont models would be good, and even an EF/EL if you stretch your budget... Assuming that the 1990 in your user name is your year of birth, forget about mixing p's with turbos, insurance will be a *****. Not to mention a nicely modded 4.0 will always out perform the TX3. And better parts are easier to find for them.

The 1990 KF/H model TX3s are a much better bet then the KEs. I'd still go a XR these days personally but the TX3s were pretty handy little things in their day.

ok the laser turbo will much through gear boxes unless you baby it - which takes a lot of fun out of driving them i would imagine. secondly as previously mentioned a p plater+turbo+mods=mega insurance (if you can get it). thirdly, a ef/el fairmont on gas with a few nice mods will one last longer as it is newer and two outperform the laser (in a straight line) as well as giving you extra room. looks like an easy decision to me but thats only my opinion as i am quite biased to the ef/el shape. Love em

you could even get an AU for that money....and if you get one like mine then you'll get about 550-600kms to the tank which is pretty good.
yeah try all the car sites, carsales, carpoint, local dealers, private sellers in the paper

For the same money he could probably pick up a tidy EF or EL Fairmont. I'd go the EL myself. |
