Sounds like I got a dud EA.
How can I tune it better? I've already replaced all the filters and spark plugs, gotten headers and exhaust and even a thermofan. Anybody have a fair idea how much a good diff will cost? Would a 3.7 one be good for mine? Also can anybody tell me why EA CFI's are BLOWBY engines? Whats that mean and whats an MPI straight gas conversion? I'm lost lol. Thanks guys!

Good second hand diff = $600 - 800 and maybe more
MPI Gas conversion = Multi point injection gas system, where your car runs straight gas. But in my opinion with gas you lose a bit of response power and power in general ... unless your running AVGas, then power ahoy ;)

dont know, was on TV about a year ago, IS300 with a 4.0 stroked to 4.2 V8, and i think it was blown as well.
backed up by a 6 speed. they said due to it being an alloy engine and teh weight of teh 6 speed box, the weight transfer was next to the same as the 300 |

unfortunatley its not as easy as just throwing some rings at it.
to do that you have to fully rip the engine to bits, replace the rings on the pistons, most likley hone the bores, since you've gone that far you might as well do a full rebuild on it |

yep - at least new rings and a hone. While you are there you may as well do the main and rod bearings for an extra 100 or so.
Its all fun work though

Hmm engine rebuild sounds good but expensive to the max.
I remember some guy on these forums said he had his engine rebuilt for a few hundred. If you could share your secret with us all it would be nice! : Maybe theres all sorts of stuff old and worn inside my engine block that needs replacing and is causing my engine to drive like a piece of poop.

3 Speed EAs were no rocket ship either, hence the comparison.

Guys, its IS430, 4.3ltr V8, non forced Induction.
Dropped into the IS chassis which weights nothing, and my gawd does it haul. Me thinks lexus will put it into production. AMG C43 V M3 V IS430. Nice!!!

Yes, running the magnificent Lexus V8. It was a prototype done by some guy in the states, I believe, in co-operation with Lexus.
I kinda hope they do put it into production, it was a ripper of a car. I read about it in some magazine a while ago. Real quick. And, don't be too embarassed. My CFI used to get beaten a LOT. Now, I just get beaten occasionally. Falcons aren't really built to fly off the line, you'll get em in the end though. Just the other day a little Festiva beat me off the line... but once the car got above 2500 rpm, I was gone. That made me happy. |
