Default Reviving old plastic

In our ED a lot of plastic things have lost their colour and turned white.

The main one is the rear demister switch and it looks horrible.

The window winders, rear ash trays and glove box are also fading and turning white.

Is there a cheap way to revive it and make it look new again?

I tried armour all and no luck.

yeh just get a cotton bud or a cotton wool thing and just dip it in oil and wipe over button, then get a cloth to wipe button clean again.

repeat until theres no slime on button and its dark.

lasts 3-4 months only tho.

I used a tire shine, it worked wonders on my dash! And it isn't too greassy once its rubbed in...but i wouldn't use it on pedals and the steering wheel...

Yeah the baby oil thing is amazing, I just tried it.

Is there more permanent way of doing it?

How come it does this in the first place?

How do they keep it black when it's new.

The interior is immaculate except for these white bits of plastic so if I can restore them the car would look new again

only way to restor them would be to buy new ones and replace them.
the reason it happens is that the plastic cant handle the uv rays anymore

Now don't laugh! I was sitting in my car waiting for someone, so I was going through my glovebox when I found a KFC refresher towel, well 4 actually...

I cleaned my dash and stuff with one, and then took to my rear demister and wiper buttons (I have a wagon) with the refresher towel and they came up really good - and they are still a nice dark color without being glossy/slimy - and this was about a year ago... so it is lasting really well...
