Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
I have just picked up an AU1 Falcon Forte Sedan. It has the stock brakes on it. I also have a set of BA XR8 Brakes (Calipers, Rotors, Pads). I want to get these fitted to the AU. Does anyone know where I can go to get this done? Is it an easy process for the AU1? Any idea of cost if you have had it done? I have had a read of the BA onto AU thread, everyone seems to do it themselves... I would, except I am mechanically challenged and want the car to stop when I use the brakes. : Cheers

My bad, didnt read your full post.
Umm pretty much any mechanic could do it, would be better off trying to find a brake and suspension place to have a look. If you source the parts you need and pass it onto a mechanic they should have it done pretty smartly.. |

Hoppers stoppers can do it, so can BOG, and G&D also have the knowledge.

its reasonably straight forward: you will need: - Uprights - lower control arm - S2 swaybar & mounting brackets for ur brakes u will need the mounting brackets (bridges), calipers, pads and rotors and i am sure i forgot something somewhere lol those conversions take me about one hour each side, that includes inspecting and regreasing slides, machinin rotors, linishing pads (if 2nd hand), fitting components, etc sometimes we rebuild wheel bearings while we are at it as everything is apart anyway

is anything funky required to do this conversion (presses etc)
or is it nice and straight forward spanner turning goodness?? probably going to have this on the cards when my current rotors die here is a pic i got off here somewhere that has everything required layed out so you can see! (switch the nice huge Brembo calipers and rotors to which ever AU2-BA rotors and calipers your using obviously)

I just had the S1 wagon converted to S2 brakes, I highly recommend it.
My costs: $400 = uprights, callipers, swaybar and mounts, lower wishbone. $240 = rda slotted rotors and QFM K500 HP-R pads pads $150 = labour (Dave my mate = top bloke). $70 = extra gift for Dave. $20 = swaybar bushes $5 = castrol brake fluid $885 all up, professionally installed. I painted up the hub on the rotors with paint I already had and Dave painted up the callipers for me with another can I already had. We sprayed the pads with an anti squeal compound which I had left over from another job. I don't include these costs, but they'd be around $55 I'd reckon. Brakes have heaps more feel, power and initial bite. I am very happy that I did the upgrade. The car pulls up so, so much quicker now. Cheers, GK
