Default Tail lights from Shell AU V8 Supercar??

Mods, if you believe this thread should be moved elsewhere feel free.

Does anyone remember the tinted tail lights from the DJR Shell Helix Racing AU Falcon V8 Supercars?
Im curious, does anyone know how this effect was created? Was it just using the sprays/films you can get from autobarn or where ever? Or was there something more to it?
I havent been able to find a picture of it, but I'm really interested in having a set just like them.

pretty sure its deffinetly the Shell racers

theres a few ways, you can get the inside professionally sprayed, or just use a film, not sure how they did it, but im guessing they would have had them sprayed?

It was indeed DJR, back in 1999 and 2000. I've heard you can obtain this effect by using a product called Nightshade that you spray over the lights. You may find a few issues if you do this though. Police could give you a canary for it, and it may have insurance ramifications too.

i tried searching the v8 site but their pics only go back to 2001 and DJR didnt have the tinted tail lights then.

anyone remember why they changed? did AVESCO get up them about it or did they do it on their own?

The nightshade stuff is pretty ordinary. Your best bet is to give the tail lights to a spraypainter who can spray them with a clear which has a black tint to it.

Thanks, I've heard Nightshade can be a bit dodgy. Poor durability and such, and thats if you get it to look any good to begin with.
Thanks for your responses.
