Hi , our dog is usually full of life and fit and healthy ,but just recently he has not been eating and has been spewing all the time just watery stuff ,also has a real lack of energy. Im away working overseas and left at the start of this week, we thought he mightve stopped eating because of that but now he has been spewing and little energy the missus brought him into the vet. Luckley the vet is only 400meters away as she hasnt got her licence. While in the vet clinic he spewed twice and the took him in straight away and took Xrays. They found a lump in his stomach and think it might be something hes eaten. Hes on a drip as they said hes very dehyrated probably from the spewing. Its cost $600 so far but money isnt an option as hes part of the family.
He went in there yesterday , his weight has dropped nearly 2kgs when they weighted him .Will send a update when I hear further on him.

Yeah hope he's alright mate.
A few years ago we bought a puppy and he was really sick for a few days when we took him home. Rang up the pet store and they said to bring him back and they will give us a new one. I said stuff that, then took him to the vet and paid the $350 to fix him up.

Hes not a small dog either hes a 50kg Rotti x Boxer,Staffi ,when we shifted over from NZ 2 years ago and the 2 dogs were the first flights we booked.
They said if he doesnt start eating they will operate to remove the blockage but are trying to make him eat, which is usually very easy , the missus said he turned down choclate cake after that she took him down to the vet.

Ticks? There was an article in the paper here this week about a Rotty who died from dehydration caused by tick infestation. The security guard who owned him took him to the vets for regularly monthly tick injections but this seems to ba a particularly bad year for them. They are very hard to see at this time of year, usually just hatched and smaller than a pin head.

Not good at all mate, I know exactly how you feel as I went through a similar thing with my dog recently. He was also spewing watery stuff, no energy, no eating and just wasn't interested in anything. Then all of a sudden he couldn't walk up any stairs and then just couldn't walk! Took him straight down to the vet at 1030 at night. Turned out that he had diabeties and almost died, lost 12kg in a few days. All good now though but we have to watch what he eats and give him two insulin shots a day.

He has had alot of soup bones over the last 2 weeks and he has spewed up bone pieces before. We never give our dogs choclate and if we did it would only be the coco free stuff from the pet shop, they like the schmacko,s better anyway.

Is he doing number two's?
We had a German Shepard cross rottweiler that had the same symptoms. It turned out that he had been crunching too many bones. The vet said they set like concrete in their intestine. They had him on a drip for a couple of days and pumped lube up his rear end to fix him. |

The ticks epidemic has hit all of the East coast of Australia.
The thing is with ticks, is that new species of them sprout up every year or two. Hope he/she gets better! |

Sounds like what happened to a dog of mine a few years back , he managed to get hold of the steelwool pad from the kitchen and swallowed it ( so we found out later ). It had to be removed by surgery.

Not good at all mate. I hope the little fella pulls through.
The most painful thing, besides a relative being sick or dieing, is seeing your pet suffer the same. |

Hes back at home now ,still hasnt passed anything but seems alot better although still not 100%. The vet said to feed him cooked chicken 5 times a day for the next 4 days. And has to go back to the vet for a check up after that.

If your worried about a blockage, feed it some home made spag bol with real rich sauce. Cleaned our shepard out after eating bits of car sponge. Also i can swear by protexin paste or powder. Its the same as probiotic tablets for humans. Horse shops sell it for horses. Both my shepards have had the runs in the last couple of weeks. They have not had this issue for a year or so. So back onto some protexin powder & they are both back to solid again. All the vet wanted to do was give injections that would block them up again. When i mention how well the protexin works, they said ohh yes we have seen a lot of people in sydney use it. Ya think. Its especially good if the dog is on any antibiotics or medication that upsets the digestive tract, or when the may be stressed or hot.

Turns out she was just majorly backed up with bones. They gave her a flush and some laxitives. Gave her back to us and said make her walk around. I got the ball out and made her jump around for a bit. Was hilarious, chase the ball. Stop, . Chase the ball, stop, . I had to stop because I couldn't dodge them anymore. But yeah she's a new dog after that. |

Yeah hes still very quiet , but hes making the most of the cooked chicken 5 times a day. Hes probably staying quiet hoping the cooked chicken will last.
