Exclamation Need Tyres and rims asap...

I know i have already put a WTB advert in the right section... but that doesnt mean anyone from this group will even notice it...

Got a "slight" problem... my front tyres are very worn and one of my back tyres has a great split going around the wall of the tyre...

I need some replacement wheels for it with tread that will hopefully last me about 6 months... i am willing to consider 15" and 16" wheels too...

If anyone can help me in anyway, it will be highely appreciated.

Blueprint.

Why not go to NorthWest tyres or someone like that - you can usually pick up a 17" tyre for around $100 each that will have around 80-90% tread on it. So for $300, you can have 3 near new tyres to get you through.

Or I could sell you a set of 16's for $400 with 60% rubber - your choice!

Hardly anything close by... I'm over 12 hours from Canberra...

I'm alot closer to Tamworth (which is over 3 hours south from me)...

Hence why the shout out... i'm stuck big time... dont have the $$ for new rims and tyres... as the rims i have are stuffed (cheap crap put on from old owner)

Contact a large auto recycler (wrecker) in either Sydney or Brisbane - they should have what you need at a reasonable cost (who else is going to want stockies), and should be able to freight them to you cheaply enough as well.

If you can't get a full set of stockies including freight for under 4300, then you're not trying hard enough.

Have you tried the local tyre shop (or a large one near you)? Surely people out your way buy mags, and the stockies must end up somewhere? Or are they all in Bushed Up Holden utes?

3 types of people want stockies:

1. Taxi drivers
2. Taxi drivers
3. Taxi drivers

I had to wait 6 months to get a steel 16" wheel as a spare for when I put the BA brakes on. The only Ford specialist wrecker in Newcastle, and other large wreckers locally, can't keep them on the shelves. As soon as the cars come in, the wheels go out.

You just bought this car. Didn't it come with a rwc? If the tyres are that bad I'd tell the vendor to sort it, or you will take the matter up with the RTA. Somebody must have signed something saying the tyres were roadworthy. The RTA takes dodgy RWCs pretty seriously.

In fact, get a mechanic to make a lost of all the other roadworthy items that need fixing and confront the vendor with them. You never know, you might wind up getting your money back.

[Edit] Sorry, I just checked the other thread and see you've had it for a more than six weeks lready. Probably too long to do the above.

Cheers anyway mate... i've been well and truly screwed over with the car... as my local Ford Dealer said "Ex-Taxi's should never be sold without a marking on the Compliance plate, that way it has to be listed in a sale"

As for rims and tyres... i now have that sorted... I got really lucky when i rang my tyre guys (Tyrepower Moree). They offered 4x Factory BA 16" rims and very good tyres, the right wheel nuts, factory BA Hubcaps in good nick, all wheels re-balanced, fitted and a wheel alignment for $400.

Save yourself $100, and ditch the hubcaps.
