Default AU Tuners: who did yours, and are you happy?

I'm interested to hear from people who have had their AU's tuned using the edit technology. There are obviously plenty of tuners claiming big numbers etc but the real proof is in how many customers are happy with their car.

This thread is NOT intended to be and will not be allowed to become a bashing thread, all I am interested in is who did your car, and are you happy with what you got - not neccesarily just the kw figure, but how it drives, how it delivers power etc. Overall drivability and results speak a lot louder to me than what a final kw figure does.

To give an example, I have had my ute tuned by Herrod using the edit, this was done prior to my current engine work with mods as listed in my sig. Result was just under 160rwkw and I did feel a slight change in how the car drove (mainly shift points in the transmission), but overall wasnt as impressed with the outcome as I had hoped to be.

Had mine done by G&D and I'm happy with it, very happy with it now that I have sorted a couple of issues. I'd say either G&D or HPF, Paul who used to work at G&D is there now and he knows his Windsors. That's if you want to travel all the way down here lol.

Simon from Xtreme Ford Tuning did mine using Capa Flash Tuner and I have to say that I could not be happier- the time he put in when AU Edit was in pre-infancy shows true dedication and the results simply speak for themselves.......

Are you talking just custom tunes or generic as well b2tf? My generic 98 octane tune from KPM made a noticeable difference across the board, especially on LPG. It's more responsive and pulls well through the midrange. On LPG it tends to choke a bit just before the BBM butterflies open but is fine on petrol.

The only issue I have with it is that it changes up in either Econ or Power mode at about 5100rpm. The stock tune held to redline in Power.

I have a KPM generic as well, extremely happy. Similar nights at Willowbank saw me drop .501 with the generic tune only, I have no dyno figures though. The rev limit has been raised, seing me spin 6400 over the line in second, if I hold it in gear. I have run 14.97 now, and still get 580 k's to the tank around town and 700+ on the highway.
Car runs great, has pinged twice on the 95 tune, both on 38 degree days, with hardly any fuel left in the car.
I use an ethanol blend full time in my car, and these tunes suit it really well.

KPM generic gets a big thumbs up from me.

sly, any sort of tuning done using an SCT flasher is what Im primarily interested in. I thought this would also be a good thread for anybody thinking about getting an edit done who is maybe not sure who to get to do it.

I know that so many of you guys that have V8's that have had an edit done but what about the 6's? Do you notice much difference with one done at all? I've been told the shift points if you have an auto usually turn out to be alot better and more noticable?

Nah, I got a good one too! :

Spiro at Autotech tuned the TE when I switched to the AFR heads. Excellent driveability and big power increase.

Imagine what he could do with a EDIT on your car :

Mine will be going back for a retune after the new cam goes in over Easter :

An edit tune should not need to be reflashed unless you have disconnected the battery or done other work. Actually I'm not sure if it even needs to be done then but as a matter of habit I do it.

What were the economy figures before and after?

This was flash tuned right?

I need to do it to mine occasionally. Removes fault codes, strangely the MSD coil packs bring up fault codes

I get some real interesting ones from time to time.

BLUEPOWER, Different car than the one that went in to be tuned. New set of valve springs and we'll be much happier.

Mine was not only tuned by G&D, but extensively worked on by them for quite a while. The car had been to many different places but it wasn't until G&D got their hands on it that it finally ran perfectly! I'll always be grateful to Glenn (mostly) and also Paul.

And I agree with b2tf lol. Whoosha must have a lucky Unichip because mine was not happy with the Unichip at all :

They are free on the box when you buy it. You might be able to get them to load a set on, it shouldnt cost much.

As for reflashing, I know that mine seems to go a bit better after reflashing it from time to time.

Mine is also for the 6.

hmm interesting i took my battery off one day to do the steering wheel and ever since then my car has been pinging really bad like worse than it used to.
the car had a rough tune just for low rpm as it was getting run in so it has always pinged up high in 2nd but now any rpm WOT it pings in second and if not a cold night even in first.
i got offered to buy the flash tuner off the old owner of the car but havent goit the money atm maybe i should get it then put the tune back in it may have lost it.
cheers josh.
