I'm replacing my radiator, thermostat and hoses (preventative maintenance) and while I'm doing that I'll replace the serpentine drive belt as well.
My local Ford does not have a belt in stock but I can get a Dayco belt locally from a gasket/belt supplier. According to the supplier the Dayco cattledog lists belts "AU 98-02" and "AU XR6". I'm guessing that the 'XR6' means VCT and the other is for non-VCTs? Can someone confirm that VCT/nonVCT belts are different as he doesn't have the "XR6" one in stock and I'll save myself a trip. |

This is the information I received from Ford Spare parts.
AJK6 995 BELT, (4.0L SOHC EFI 6 CYL (MP) OR 4.0L SOHC EFI 6 CYL LPG OR 4.0L SOHC EFI 6 CYL XR6 (HP) $46.00 AJK6 956 BELT, 4.0L SOHC EFI 6 CYL XR6 (VCT) $65.80 I'm not too sure on the current prices though and the DAYCO belts may even be cheaper. |

So they are different. That looks to be the one... not that my local Ford had it anyway. They quoted me $98.00 for it! I see in Repco's flyer that they have a 20% discount off Dayco belts. I'll see if they have an AU VCT in stock (thanks for the part number; should be easier to cross reference). |

they are a lot longer than 995...
i think theyre about 2100 long... the 6 is right in regards to it being a 6pk belt though... genuine numbers will sometimes use a totally unrelated set of numbers to name parts... aftermarket comapnies like gates etc use the length and the style of belt, eg 6pk2100

Bosch part number for VCT belt is 6PK2515 from memory, but I know I have one here that I ordered by accident (wanted one for the XR8 but got the VCT one by mistake). Brand new, $10 plus post if anyone wants it!

Well since 2515mm converted to inch's is 995, i think not that the numbers are random.
