Question AU3 dedicated gas question

Hi all, 1st post here...

Looking at buying an AU3 futura wagon on dedicated gas.
Is there a difference mechanically in the motor between a dedicated gas engine and a petrol engine? ie heads/valves etc or did ford just stick gas on a petrol motor?

Anything to look out for relating to the lgp....vehicle has 120,000 on it

Cheers

I may be corrected and if so no worries, but the heads are stronger ie specifically set up for gas, and the bottom end is said to be much stronger than stock, allowing for a shocker of a backfire.

From all accounts, they are a great motor. For the record, I have two dual fuel AUs which I think are great.

Just to add .... compression ratio is same as petrol models. (after a lot of research and testing).
The engine is pretty much identical to petrol models.
The only thing is the throttlebody is a once-piece EGAS item ... and bloody expensive.

Intake manifold has not injector ports and no injector rail.

Rocker cover was just painted green to denote it is for an EGAS vehicle.

Only from B-series onwards did they have higher comp/different pistons and rods from memory (similar to F6 spec internals)

Mechan1k speaks the truth.

Same motor, rocker cover painted green, same compression, just a different intake manifold because of the lack of injectors.

Tough as old boots, cabbies freqently report 700,000+klms without major incident out of these motors.
The vialle converters are tops too.
