Just reading through that, I saw that they've stated they have an RS specific instrument cluster. It looks extremely similar to the LV focus, with no distinct differences. I had a chance to check out an LV XR5 and take a seat today, and noticed that the gauges in the cluster are extremely small. Has anybody noticed this or seen it?

I want an RS too, btw. Just pray to god that they bring one here!!!

They said less than 25,000 pounds... which if convertedi is just under 50 + shipping costs on retail would be about $60,000 + any registration costs.. + the 12 month rule on having owned a car for 12 months prior to importing it to australia.. ?

Well that turned into a pretty expensive venture ...... Might just have to be patient..
I would much prefer this over a GE6T but that fact that there is no after sales support could prove to be expensive should something go wrong.....

Real shame that car isn't coming here

AFAIK, no one has said that yet.
Based on past comments from Ford, I think it's a better than 50% chance that we'll get it

Ford says there is no plan to import the Focus RS, which won’t hit European roads until 2009, until after the company begins production of the next-generation Focus in Australia in 2011, which means the newest RS is, for now, off Ford’s local agenda altogether
I know it doesn't mean that it won't come here... One can only hope it does though.. I really have taken a huge liking to this thing moreso than the FPVs...

Well Damn!!! Hadn't seen that report.

They'd made obscure positive noises prior to this, but that doesn't sound positive at all.

And given I reckon there'll be strong demand in Europe, unless Ford Australia pushed really hard to get it, it wouldn't happen. From the Go Auto article, doesn't sound like a top priority for Ford Oz.

Damn, as a committed Focus fan, I was starting to think seriously about putting up an early deposit.

I think if they did import it here, It would be a mid about a $46k proposition or maybe a little bit more... Definitely wont be over $50k... but, you just gotta hope it comes... Maybe they are focusing on bringing in the mondeo wagon first, then the Focus RS when they begin building them here... would be expensive for them to get ADR compliance for what would realistically amount to <500 cars between 2010 and 2011... ?

But Alas... who knows if Ford want to have an environmentally friendly superhatch (after all, it is green )

I've seen rumours that FPV may well be looking at the Focus RS to expand their range into smaller vehicles (in a similar fashion to what HSV did with the Astra VXR). They may wait though until Australian production of the Focus starts (in 2010?), and then fancy one up themselves...

Said many a times FPV will not import an RS and just slap an FPV badge on the car. The only way we are going to see an FPV focus is if they as you said: Fancy one up themselves. Which i can see as beeing either a hunk of junk, or a total let down.

FPV may work wonders for the Bogan spec Falcons but when it comes to Euro Spec Focii they are way out of their league.

IMO Ford Should Import the RS to AUS as a line. But we all know the possibilities of that really happening (as much as hell freezing over and the devil beeing nice).

Ummmm given FPV is now owned by Prodrive, I wouldn't dismiss their Euro capabilities too quickly. And if they were to do something in the future, raiding the international parts bin is a time honoured path!!!

Wonder if AWD lives in the international parts bin.....

/Dream On
If they are building the Kuga here, they will have an AWD drivetrain being constructed alongside the FWD run of the mill focus... so potential isthere for FPV to develop an AWD variant...... few Carbon fibre panels...... hahaha...
/Dream Off

Now, back to the regular news....

i wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to do a focus let alone one that can match the RS

I'm not Lon, but just suggesting that FPV's capabilities are far greater than Sean perhaps gives them credit for
