Default Which cars will a 351/302 Cleveland fit into?

I've scored a few motors of late...

and I've seen a few 351/302 transplants over the years...
My favourite being a very stock looking Sigma with a 351 in it...

Any other suggestions or previews ?

(Think sleeper and regularly driven... and not a falcon or larger)

Theres an early model swb Pajero around here that has a V8 in it. Dont know what it is, but it doesnt sound like a Chev.

How about the early 70's model Celicas, I've seen one of them with a 351C in it and it was road registered. Now that would be a quick car!

RX3 perhaps?

Could drop it straight into a cortina if you want a hassle free transplant.

Have seen a 351 and FMX in a BMW 2002, was daily driven too. Couldn't recommend it though...

Mazda Rx7 (Any series but would go with 3/4.), Datsun 240/260/280Z, Cortina, Capri, Escort if you really wanted.

With enough time and money you can put it into anything. A late 80s merc could be pretty trick as well. Nice cruiser with a good amount of grunt.

You would probably want something carby fed though if you want to get it street legal. So my pick would be a Datto 240Z or a cortina/capri.

Beat me to it. My vote was for one of the old Datto Zeds.

Back in my panel beating days we worked on a 1980 Toyota Corolla with a 302 in it. Was a daily driver but the driver could'nt drive.

Years ago a bloke down the road from me had an Anglia with a 351 in it, was used as a hotrod(dirt track) 6 cylinders under the bonnet 2 in the passenger compartment and a big bent forward gearstick. Tailshaft was about 14" long from memory and ran a shortened 9" diff. Feral is the only way to describe it.

i helped a mate fit a 351 clevo into a nissan 720 4x4 ute back in the early `90s. that was a very tight fit. length was the big problem. was a bit of a offroad weapon but had overheating issues.
we were still getting it sorted out when his wife traded it in on a cortina.

my brother had a 351 in an early `70s transit van. was a lot of work but made it into a great van.

yes but even something like a sigma with a stock (what ?) 240HP Clevo in would be a nimble daily driver....

albeit... a little nose heavy (and crappy at going around corners)

Was just thinking about finding a neat little stocker and over powering it slightly

This reminds me of a project thread over at ls1.com.au where some guy put an ls1 in an Astra. Looked pretty awesome.

I reckon throw the 351 in something modern - MX5 would be larf, 180sx or any other mid 90's Jap sports car (all are RWD with long bonnets). Now you got me thinking...

ls1 into a 180sx is quite a common swap in the states. few of them floating around.

ls1 can fit into a mx5 so if a clevo is similar in size that would be a whole lot of fun.

Aparently there is a twin turbo ls1 skyline here in perth. Was told by a guy at work. Now that would be a bit of a bit of fun!

Having thought about it some more I would pay to see a 351 conversion into a Toyota Prius. It would be priceless seeing the look on some greenies face when they hear it at the lights...

Off topic sorry,

A little hungover one day I was walking up to the local take-away when I hear the glorious sound of a V8 revving its tits off. I swing my head around to spot which what I could only presume to be some old school muscle. Instead to my surprise it was a mid 80's Corolla. I almost fainted with shock but as I headed in for closer inspection I noticed out of my line of sight was a Leyland P76.

Volvo 240, early 80's Mazda rwd 929 (or 626). Forget about anything newer than 85...

Is it possible to slot one into a Escort? (obviously with some fabrication)

I used to with a bloke who said there was a green Mark II in Geelong late 80's early 90's with a 351 in it. Wasn't a great handler but said it could light up the rear tyres on command doing 100 kph..... which made it a little dangerous.

He was a known crap artist...so could be crap...but then I go thinking what if?

I think 351 into Cortina is a wonderful mix...with upgraded brakes

That car and an almost identical red one are both still getting around - there was an article on them in Street Machine last year. One of them was blown as well, I think...

He reckons the rego authourities frown on it now, as his were legal but because he built a couple of them they eventually told him that they would not approve anymore of them.
