cut a set of pacies into half, twin cats from there 3" to two offset mufflers, over the diff and exit. was hell loud and big top end, matched my cam well

Yeah the fuel tank is in the way, so a single system is the only option. CAT600 has removed his tank and is implementing a custom tank setup, with room for a twin exhaust. Check out the latest pages in his TerminatorS build thread. It's probably a bit beyond the average road car, but it still quite doable if you have the dedication.

You could run a single exhaust to the rear, and have a y piece to a second pipe hidden behind the rear bar, running behind said bar and out on the other side, if its just the visual effect your after.

If it just for looks, pick a point and weld a foot off pipe under the passanger side of the car.

It would be good to look nice, and have sound coming out of it, thats all I was getting at, like if it was running, people would say, hey, that side make no sound. I thought my way would have been more "even", lol.

Not sure about sound, but a loss of power probably would happen, due to not enough back pressure (unless of course we go into F/I). a single 2.5 works well. As for sound, i'm not complaining about my redback system

well at the start of the build that was the idea just a 2.5 redback sport system but then the kit came along and ideas come to mind you know how it is-
even with the lost power due to the twin system it would still be better power gain then stock and it would look cool

You will have more power than other exhausts listed on this forum. It will be the best sounding six. I have long wanted to try it but funds were diverted for family life and the 3 inch isnt too bad.

Loss of power my Butt. If its just a rear section Y-pieced from the rear muffler, and run behind the rear bar YOU WILL NOT LOOSE POWER. Its not even possible to loose power like that. It'll sound fine, and any exhaust shop will be able to make up the rear section first attempt, and itll look fine.

Dual exhaust will kick *** over the 3inch .I had my car booked in a year ago but the exhaust guy got sick that day and I couldnt make another appointment so it never got done. Just dont go over 2.5 inch pipes. It will definately lose torque/power..

Also be aware that it may need a tune to optimise everything but it should go well.

what effect would be had on the o2 sensor tho??
being that it would need to be reading both pipes otherwise would be getting a wacky reading when its firing on the alternate pipe

I'm not sure how it would sound, running a y piece up the back somewhere, the distance from that would be a foot to one tipe and metres to the othere, how would that effect sound?

I don't know, thats why I asked. Could be quiter on one side, could also have two completely different sound if different prssures are passing thru them, or it could make no differance. I'd assume the second, but could be wrong.

The o2 sensor reads rich lean for the given exhaust gas. The car should operate properly .. If both sides are identical then the cylinders should be fairly close to one banks air fuel ratios. Of course if we get that picky we can install a wideband o2 sensor in every cylinder to see what each one is doing and then need a sequential indvidual injector tuning device to get each cylinder in perect tune.

I saw this on a Xr8 a fews years ago, it did sound good and also blew a bit of smoke on cold starts, it really looked the goods. I went to 3 diff exhaust shops to see if I could do it on my car and all said that it was illegal and wouldn't do it. After the 3rd I gave up and shelved the idea. I think the only leagal way would be to get a drop tank placed in the spare wheel well, thus leaving room on the left hand side for a true twin exhaust. Having said that, as I said before, it looked damn good, sounded good and set the Au xr8 apart from the rest.If you can get a shop to do the pipe behind the rear bar..this one was 1 inch..go for it.

Ps. make sure you wrap it in exhaust blanket so you dont melt the bar or tank.
