It's not so offensive when it's not in that violently luminous green.

not that being offensive is a bad thing at all.

It's the most desirable bum dragger I've ever seen. It looks awesome and I'm sure it drives just as good as it's asthetics would suggest. I would love if FPV could put their badge on it.

Looks good, but Volvo power dose nothing for me. They would really need to employ Cosworth power in this car then it may be something special.

That rear badge placement looks weird (Focus and RS)

God damn that's a nice looking car. Seeing the interior in RHD just makes me dream. Agree with Steve on the badge issue, looks weird having the focus low and the RS high.

Doesn't look like they're changed all that much in the engine bay though. Different intake piping (brand RS, naturally) and plastic extenda-pipe, but apart from that it looks exactly the same. Spoiler looks a bit ricer, and the rear diffusor sticks out like a dogs balls, but I'd still buy one in a heartbeat. Love it to bits!

I know what you mean but I would have second thoughts at the traffic lights with a car that displays a badge that says 'COSWORTH' on the boot lid.

I would dare say that probably nearly every holden owner that did come across a car with Cosworth on the back would still have a go at it, in a depserate bid to try and reclaim some of the glory they so hopelessly lost during the times of the Australian Touring Car Championships....

Bring back the good old days I say.... before it became a one make marketing shamble... :(

That's the MKI Focus RS. The new one has 300 bhp (up about 85 bhp on the first model) and 440nm, which, assuming a weight of 1450 kg (yep sadly it'll probably weigh that much), means a power to weight, and torque to weight ratio almost identical to an FG XR6 Turbo, so it aint gonna be slow. It might be a tiny bit slower from a dig than an Escort Cossie due to the lack of AWD, but once on the move, I reckon the RS will annihilate it.

It remains to be seen though if the new LSD and Revoknuckle system can tame all that power, but Ford did extensive testing with an AWD set up, and claim that the FWD system makes the car more involving to drive and ultimately quicker around a race track (in dry conditions anyway).

As for the Volvo donk being a bad thing, well it's the very thing that makes the XR5 Turbo such a fun and addictive car to drive, and I can only assume that the highly tuned RS version will be a whole lot better again.

And then there's the styling..... I know its a very subjective thing, but an Escort looking better than the new RS?

okay on the looks i might off been a little ambitious . Also thanks for informing me of the models . Because it would be a real shame to second best to its older cousin.

Well they would say that wouldn't they

FWD is still fundamentally wrong in a performance application.

I'm sure it will go well & it sure looks great, but I just can't get past an RS being FWD :togo:

Well yes they would, and normally I'd be very cynical about such a comment myself. But when you consider that the AWD platform already exists (S40), and can easily be 'borrowed' from Volvo, you'd think it would be a no-brainer for Ford, but apparently not. So that makes me think well maybe the AWD set up really wasn't that good.

The previous RS was criticised for it's 'B' road handling and very 'lively' front end on rough surfaces, so you'd think that Ford would be very reluctant to release another RS that suffered the same problems. I guess we'll have to wait until Feb/March next year to find out.

The RS focus has been front wheel drive the whole time hasn't it.... its what makes it the car it is... sure enough whacking 4wd into it would make it a potential plethora of performance but its about the name and heritage.

Perhaps Ford are going to release a WRC version of the focus and keep the RS aswell....
