I was just thinking today that the Falcon is 50 years old this year. Wouldnt it be ideal for Ford to release an ad for this. Maybe go through and show snippets of the ads for the models through the years and end on FG with the 50 year message.
Could be good timing considering the talk thats been around lately of Falcon dying. Or maybe they will do this on release of the FG2(or whatever its called) in July. |

Don't worry, there will be plenty made of it when the FG gets a freshen up mid-year.

Don't forget it's also the 85th anniversery of FoA.
You can imaging the Holden people saying "Haha! the Commodore has been along for longer than the Falcon" because of the 60th anniversary Holdens. If they had a special edition they would have to explain in the ad: "To commemorate 50 years of Falcon and 85 years of Ford in Australia..." |

Fuel consumption wasn't so hot in the 80's.

You guys should stop talking to simpletons. Its bound to get you frustrated and some of their stupidity could rub off on you. As for the ads its about time they did something special

I reckon a couple of long ads, similar to those of the TAC anniversary ads, showing some of the best Falcon ads and highlights in these 50yrs.

The question will be if Ford can balance the cost v projected sales as a result of an advertisement of this format.

VB Commodore started in 1979, same as the XD.
Ford really need to make a big thing about this...'the Oldest Australian car'

They'd be better off with 'The Longest continually produced Australian name plate'. Ford have been making their own cars longer than Holden, however it seems that they aren't all that proud of that. Shame, really.

Both "Falcon" and "Commodore" names are not Australian !
Which nameplates are uniquely Australian ? I can only think of Torana but surely there are others.

Falcon has become an Australian car, as has Commodore. I love the 'Falcon' nameplate. Export it to the US and call it the "Eagle". :P :P :P
Falcon would be among the longest running nameplates at the moment, wouldn't it? VW Beetle went for a damn long time but is going to end up soon. Accord, Golf etc. go back but how far I don't know... The fact that a car built almost exclusively for a minute market such as Australia has survived this long, especially given massive international competition in the past fifteen years. I think it's worth celebrating.

Somebody must be listening, just saw a full page ad fom Lane Ford in the local rag. Pictures of G6 and XR6 with the heading "BUILT BY AUSTRALIANS FOR AUSTRALIANS for 50 years".Simple and at least i thought, effective
Lane Ford is flying the flag down here, always in the papers with big Ford promoting ads and editorials about what their customers think about their new Fords, I have also seen their ads on tv. I bought my XR6 off Laneys and so far it has been serviced by Lanes as well because they have really looked after me ,great place to buy a Ford. I know this sounds like an infomercial but my point is, credit where credits due this mob is a dealer that advertises better than Ford themselves maybe who ever sets out the ads at Lanes needs to be headhunted by the Ford media section. Lane Ford is one of the biggest selling FPV dealers in WA and i know that there is more new Fords sold in this area than any where else in WA so what does that say about their customer care and local advertising. And no i dont work for this mob either |
