I need to replace the fan/auxillary belt on my AU, anyone use the Gates Racing Blue belt?
Also is a Flash tuner realy worth it? And would you buy version 2 or 3. My mods are strickly bolt on, pacemakers, 2.5 redback. Cold air mods coming. AZZA

I've never used the Gates branded belt before, I always just whatever the auto parts retailer has in stock.
As far as a flash tuner goes, you are better off using the lastet and greatest and with the mods you already have you should get some benefit. However I would wait until you have got the induction done, that way a custom tune will given more scope to produce power. When I had my BF XR8 custom tuned, I was advised to all but ignore the dyno figures and concentrate more on how the car felt to drive afterwards. While there was a marginal increase in power over standard, it felt much better to drive - whether it be belting down an on-ramp to the freeway, or just diddling around town.

Thanks mate, i'm not a dyno racer anyway. I have other projects on the go like the XY i have. I've read that the flash tuner recalbrates the auto for a firmer shift. You confirm this? I'm waiting on the cold air intake as i want to have polished pipe run from the throttle body to the box.

Certainly do firm up the shifts. Ring a reputable tuner, I suggest Bluepower. You'll be amazed at what they can diddle with.

Yep - got the gates blue belt. only stays blue for a bout a month, and then becomes black. Supposed to be stronger than standard belts though, so worth the price (got mine on special at Supercheap) compared to stock belt.
