Default Antilock Brake module

My mate is having trouble with his AU2 fairmont antilock brake module light comes on which affects traction control. He took to get fixed and they said $2000 to replace the box. Does anyone know how to test or fix this type of problem.

If his ABS light is coming on the first thing you should be looking at is the wheel sensors. Plug in a diagnostic tool and check for fault codes. It'll tell you if an ABS wheel sensor is stuffed and which one, then it's just 5 minutes and a spanner to change the dead one. Mind you though, try to find someone other than the Ford dealer with the right diagnostic unit cos last time I did it the local dealer slugged me $40 just to plug in and get me the code.
