Thing i dont get is he wanted to publish an autobiography but without being the Stig - what has he really accomplished in Motorsport.
Ive never heard of him.
He isnt one of the big names in the world that people would want to read about.
Appears he just got too greedy and wanted more attention.

Why wouldnt you wait till you retired before you did your autobiography
surely he knew he would be sacked
I mean they had done it before
What a fool Ben Collins is

maybe the autobio will pay better than what he was getting as Stig - has gotten lots of free pre-release publicity

maybe he was being replaced anyway (as it was a well known fact for years that he has been the Stig - since Hammond crashed the jet car?) and this is the opportunity to cash in before its too late

You'd have to think that his pay packet as the Stig would have been pretty decent.
Would almost be certain that he earned more than he did when he was a race car driver.

If I were running the show I would just employ a new driver and make no mention of it whatsoever.

Ben Collins? Stig? No idea what you are talking about?

It appears sometimes also ran drivers try to improve their profile by claiming that they are the Stig but as you can see here is the Stig watching Ben Collins in the queue at the dole office.
What is he going to say next? He is really Batman?

Some say he is really Ben Collins.
Others know that only a complete idiot would reveal his secret identity (even Batman never did)

But we all know him as the Stig......

I think he would be sick of being the Stig? He would have enough money to do (and drive anything on any track) whatever he wants. Why continue?

I would can it in after a few years too.

Regular employment when you dont need it is useless. If I didnt need it as if I would be working a normal job where you have to do what you are told at certain times/ dates etc.

Stig does a hot lap with Ben Collins in the car, problem solved. Hell you could probably keep Collins as the Stig still anyway while everyone tries to work out new Stig.

Sick of driving the latest, hottest, newest cars available? Hmm, if he's bored then give the job to someone who's feet are planted in reality.

Not a good career move Mr Collins. I mean who's going to hire you now? If you cant stick to your Top Gear contract... then if I was a team manager, youd be at the bottom of my list.

I have a feeling that he was getting a big head... now its been chopped off!

Not the smartest thing Mr. Collins has done in his lifetime. He will surely live to regret this.
