It's OK, Mozzila lost their mojo a bit IMO.
I'd use Chrome. Webkit based browsers are a bit faster these days.

I totally agree, whereby I previously would have sworn by firefox I am now back with Opera

Working in IT I am always googleing stuff, downloading and as I am a bit of a "tab whore" I often see firefox using 1.5gb+ of ram and 50% CPU on the Core 2 duo I have at work.

After doing some "testing" with Opera, IE9, and Firefox, with all bar necessary addins disabled I opened a range of websites tabs on each browser (same sites obviously).
To my surprise IE9 used the least about of resources. I chose to pretend I didn't see the results and moved on..

now that adobe supports 64bit,
IE8 works a lot faster now, rather than the 32bit jobbie's.

Havent tried firefox 4, but version 3 had a lot of issues for me. Basically it wouldnt load images 80% of the time, which made the project cars section suckey. Switched last week to chrome & no problems. Not sure what the issue with FFox was but the Windows install is only 2 months old.
So sorry firefox, youve lost me

My biggest issue with FF3 was its much slower to load up (then previous versions and chrome) and at one stage would crash at the drop of a hat. Its pretty stable and I've got it set-up how I want it. Hope 4 goes back to being quicker.

I've been using Opera as my main browser for years with FF as my second choice and IE a distant last.

FF4 ? Mine only updates to 3.6.10

Firefox has some big issues with flash as well. IE9 is only a beta as well so doesn't work that well.

I still have IE 1.0 and Netscape Navigator 1.1 on floppy disk :P

I just downloaded FF4 Beta upon reading this thread to try and I must say I am mixed - although it is a very minor squibble...
  • Operating speeds are instantly noticeably faster (than 3.6.10)
  • The layout is finally [majorly] refreshed since v1 (will we have to wait till v8 to get a new look? )
  • General usage hasn't fallen victim to the new stylish layout
BUT
  • Hardly any of my previous (helpful) add-ons are compatible (hopefully rectified by the time the final release comes around, but I do understand that may take a while)
  • Flash is still as laggy, if not worse
  • General lag between switching tabs (again, could just be beta)

Am I the only person who still runs internet explorer?
I run 5-10 tabs every time I'm online, never had a reason to try anything else.

IE6 is full of bugs, even MS want it gone
IE7 and IE8 are slow,slow,slow.
IE9 catches up with Safari and Chrome speed wise.
FF 3.x is also a bit slow.

I had a problem with FF3.6.10... (Running Windows7)

If I saved a few pictures, then some more, then some more... the damn thing would shut down..

So, I switched to Chrome.... And, for the first month, it was fine... Now it's doing the same thing! Argh!

I have FF4 installed, but still use 3.6. Just like a lot of things: If it aint broke, don't fix it!
Everything I have done to 3.6 to customize it has been great for me, and using 4.0 just ruins these things.

This would be different for exeryone of course, some people would love FF4 because of the changes.
