Default GPS question.

If you have an idea where you are going and dont need the voice but want the alarm on for other road alerts that they sometimes give, can the voice be turned down and the alarm volume kept up? Are they seperate?

Interesting point:
I remember seeing a study that showed that a GPS in a car driven by a man was most effective when set to a womans voice (in fact the sat nav in our G6E seems to only have a female voice with no option for a male voice).
Because (and there's no easy way to say this), apparently, men are used to hearing a woman tell them what to do and are more likely to just do what the female voice tells them...

Having been married for over a couple of decades now, I can categorically say that is absolutely false, a gross piece of sexism against women, crass generalisation of the partnership between the sexes, and completely wrong...

...and no my wife isn't standing behind me with a rolling pin making me write that...*cough*...
