Default Could a cheap short throw shifter damage synchros?

Hey everyone,
I've been wanting to do something to change my shifter lately, and until tonight planned to just get a shorter stick as I couldn't afford $200+ for a short throw shifter.. then I started looking into it, and apparently a Mustang T5 short shifter will fit my EL T5 falcon, and I found this one on eBay for $72 delivered with good comments about it in the feedback:

2 questions:

1. If it doesn't have 'positive stops' etc.. that the more expensive ones do, is it possible it could shift too far or something and damage the synchros or something in the gearbox? Or would it simply not be designed to be able to do this?

2. It actually comes with the springs etc.. separated as in the picture, will that be difficult to put together?

Thanks to anyone that can give their insight

No more than a set of 20"s ...
It's the driver who would damage synchros..

Ohhh ok.. that's good.. so it's only by not having 'positive stops' it might be easier to grind gears etc.. ? I've grinded my gears 2-3 times in the 17,000 k's I've done on my car, so hopefully I'll be right.

Ive brought one of these, yet to fit it to the car. I had a look on the mustang forums and guys seem to be using them quite succesfully - no issues, which is why I brought mine. I ended up getting mine for about $60 AUS including shipping.

Thanks for the input. Did yours come with the springs and all that separated, does it looks hard to put them in etc.??

I was looking at the one for $62 delivered, and the reasons why I thought I'd try the one that is $10 more, is that it says the brand 'DNA' (I assume they're both the same brand but this way I was able to look up what people thought), and also the angled part of the stick is blue on the cheaper one, and I want to have it showing so I'd like it silver.

Did you buy this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/83-04-FOR...item53e7e3f007
What's it like in the flesh? Is that piece actually blue?

Yes mine came with all the springs etc seperated. The one I brought was from the guy listed on this item number 260797718789. Delivery was quick no problems at all. Looks easy enough to put together and install but I'm leaving it till I do the clutch.

Anyone else have one installed? Reading through some older posts they will suit my standard gear lever and knob?

Also higher priced short throw shifters are how much different?

I'll make a 'how to install' thread (if I can) and review of the one I've now bought on eBay once it arrives.

This is the seller mine is coming from (as mentioned previously, bought because all gear stick parts are silver and some of the others have blue bits)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/83-04-FOR...item2a0d215070

They do some with a gear lever so I'm not sure if you can use your standard one or not, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to use your standard gear knob as I think mustangs have an M12 thread and falcon is m10... but I could easily be wrong.

People say the higher prices ones are very good, but people also say that the cheaper ones are almost as good.. on eBay from the person I'm getting mine there is feedback that says it feels the same as the B&M ones which cost a lot more.. Hurst brand name ones are still fairly cheap on eBay $120+.. cheapest on eBay in Australia is $270 + post.
