Default Immobiliser Alarm - Subaru Impreza

Hi all,

Have had someone come and detail my car today and after a quick wash of the engine bay my internal car alarm will not stop. The key pad will not work nor the key, I can't unlock or lock the car. As soon as the key goes in the ignition the alarm sounds. Have found a bit of water leak that is probably causing the fault but does anybody know much about these alarms? It is a brandt alarm system.

Ultimately I would like the whole immobiliser removed. If anyone knows a place that will touch it?

Have looked up a number of forums and read plenty of suggestions but unfortunately I have found that none of them are applicable to the problem I am having today. It was touchy when I first bought the car but have had the module replaced by Subaru a few months ago and it has been working fine but it looks like this water has gotten into the wrong places? Am hoping it may dry up before the end of the day but I won't hold my breath.

Problem has since been fixed!

I would still like to know if anyone knows where to get these systems removed?

I turned the alarm OFF with the alarm key TWICE which seems to have disarmed mine!!!

are you fella's referring to the key pad to the left of the steering wheel, with the numbers on it,if not my apologies.
anyway if so well i asked at a few wrx tuning places in perth and most said $500 to by pass it etc, didnt sound like they had done many/(any?).
mine is a 2006 wrx by the way.so after hearing that cost i have just been putting up with it.its only a hassle if say you jump out the car to drop some dvds off for example, then 30 seconds later you get back in the car and have to go through the whole rigmaroll again.subaru australia had them fitted as so many were being stolen, thats what they told me.cheers dave perth

off topic but didnt realise quite a few ford men here also owned subaru's.
i recently drove my rex up from perth to karratha, and after minilya road house i new there were no cops until i closed in on karratha,so had 400 km's of road to open the car up,its the greenest it has been for yrs up there so wild life and livestock are not wandering all over the place, and where the scrub is very low,i gave the car a work out, anyway i found that my 2006 rex has a speed limiter at 210 km's/hr!.
does anyone else know of this,i tried it a few times and soft limiter 210 - 212 km's/hr.the car is dead stock apart from axle back exhaust, and throwing out that big elbow plastic thing in the drivers wheel guard.
if i get a tune, can that speed limiter be removed.
it had a 1000 rpm left on the rev counter, revs to 7000 in all gears but in 5th cuts at 6000 or so.cheers fella's

Have you made sure that all doors, bonnet & boot are properly closed?

Whenever I have problems with my Brandt I disconnect the battery, pump the brakes and then reconnect it. Has always worked thus far.

Just remember if you remove it you need to replace it for insurance purposes which is why I haven't bothered as it's money I don't want to spend for a problem that happens infrequently.

LOL couldn't help yourself Dad?

Cheers all. Only had the car since April and the alarm has given me the only problems. Had the module replaced a few months ago and seemed to have done the trick.
