Default Flash tuners?

Got a mate with an XR6T,totally stock standard and hes got it in his head to spend $1300 on a CAPPA unit, hes talking all sorts of KW gains but it all seems a bit sus to me,ive had for years a Yoshimura ecu tuner which ive used on various bikes, pretty basic unit but does the trick though nowhere near the relitive gains my mates talking re this Cappa unit.I know nothing about the things and wondering if anyones used them and with what success? There advertised as basically plug in and play,is it possible to get a decent increase out of them without doing anything with filters/exhaust etc.Just dont want to see the bloke wasting his money really so any advice welcome.Ta.

Out of the box a simple tune will gain him 30-50rwkw.
There have been XR6Ts with over 700kw (but they have a bit more than a flash )

The increase in boost from the turbo is what does the trick.

If its a cappa unit tell him to stay well clear,he needs the newer Xcal3 device.

Maybe he is though and just worded it wrong to you?

BBFB out.

And tell him he has to buy it from a local supplier. The ebay american ones do not work on our cars.
You can buy them from some places with a "Generic tune" thats supposed to be suitable for all cars, but because all engines are different it may be risky??

Best bet is to find a tuner to talk to and get the X3 flash box and a CUSTOM tune on the Dyno for best results.

HE will get about 40rwkw from custom tune. but if he does any mods the tuner will likely sting him to calibrate it to the car again. So do mods first, tune last.

Forget about capa , they have no software to do any type of tuning anymore and only have stock of the old x2 that is over 5 years old .
go to our web site www.sctflashtining.com to find a herrod/ sct tuner close to you or give us a call and we will put you in touch with the right people

If he's spent that much on head work ?? I hope he intends to upgrade turbo
etc.. T04 turbine etc.. What sort of power levels is he after ??
BTW a good head allows more power at lower boost..
Boost is not always a sign of engine making power...
It's a restriction of flow..
Which is why turbo's flow numbers are in CFM..

Cheers for your reply mate, thing is we are over the ditch in NZ,ive only spoken to him once about this thing and i just gathered it was similar to the ecu adjuster i have for my bike ie a Yosh box hence my plug n play comment.Hes about as mechanically minded as a hard boiled egg and and i am just a bit worried that he doesnt really understand what hes getting for his $.Might get him round home and get him to have a gander at this thread follow your link and go from there.Cheers also to all others that posted.
