Hot as, in before the EV haters. I think they have a place beside the ICE. Would be awesome to see more of these around!

I think EV definitely has a place in the society.
"Who killed the electric car" was a very interesting documentary of what GM did with the EV1 in the US. Apparently there's a sequel on the cards as well.

battery cars go ok, but they will be better when they go 6 or 700 k`s and not have to spend hours recharging.

^^^True, its all in development costs...but major catch 22's surround the timing when EV's get serious dollars behind them

A disturbing sign of things to come.
I dont care how better they perform, and how many ICE sound overlays they do on it to make it sound tough, Internal Combustion Engines will always be better to me. |

Probably could have chucked a rotor in it for less money and gone quicker..don't really see the point.

I was going to buy an electric car, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Seriously I like the idea of spending $2 a week to charge my car up with electricity. But I hate every other part of electric vehicles. For many people, an electric vehicles will be coal powered instead of the usual petrol power. |

Love the concept of electric cars, even though I'm a confirmed petrol head. The idea of massive torque from a standing start is amazing and they have the potential to wipe the floor with any petrol engined car you would care to name.
However, you can't sit back and ignore stuff like the limitations of current battery technology, long charge times, limited range, and other restrictions. I have absolutely no doubt that once an electric car is at a minimum as convenient as a petrol car, they will be more widely taken up. That means a few simple requirements like from near empty to full charge in ten minutes at the very most, 500 to 700km range minimum (average use too, not unrealistic fuel-economy-run careful driving...that means mixed traffic driving, using lights and air con, etc), and cost the same as a petrol car and carry four or five adults and luggage not be styled like something out of a cheap anime movie. Now all we need is a breakthrough in battery technology and our politicians to grow a pair and build atomic power stations for cleaner energy, and we'll be onto something. |
