Default Anyone recommend place for parts in WA for a festiva

Hi all,

My 96 festiva wont start :-(

I've changed the battery, the spark plugs and she still wont turn over. It got harder and longer before it would start before it totally died.

Has anyone changed the starter motor? was it hard? I usually service it myself.

Can anyone recommend any places I can go in Perth to get some new leads, distributor, starter?

What else can I try changing before I give up and take it to the mechanics.

I like my ford but I guess she's getting old.

Don't touch the dizzy etc if it doesn't crank. Sounds like starter to me.

Yer? thats what I was hoping. Just got to find somewhere that sells them now. I mean, I'm sure ford has them but was hoping there was a cheaper option.

Is the starter hard to change?

Ebay or wreckers mate. Get the opinion of a mechanic if possible before you start sourcing parts.

Not to bad I am pretty sure they are on the back of the engine.

Try Quokka or Gumtree.

(Walliston is not wrecking small cars)) Only Falcon XRs & FPVs, and a few Commodore VE and Territorys there.

Some starter motors can be difficult to access. I'm not familiar with Festiva, Is it a re-badged Mazda?? Maybe try 'Laser wreckers' in Osborne Park', if they are still around. I'm sure they will fit the parts as well. Nice little friendly workshop there, with a thick layer of oil everywhere. Always a good sign of a real mechanic when the workshop hasn't been cleaned for a few years ;)

Seems to still be there; 17 Donovan Street, Osborne Park. Tel 9444 0111,

I assume Laser and Festiva is very closely related, and that the friendly staff there will sort you out for very reasonable money, with second-hand parts, fully fitted and running again.

Cheers
