Hi All,
Many of you will remember I picked up a G6E EcoBoost a few months ago. Well, the girlfriend has taken that off my hands and I was left with only the XR8. But the missus was kind enough to return the favour and bought me a G6E EcoLpi. I just picked it up today. Black with Cashmere interiors. (ISNT SHE THE BEST!!) I needed a car to tow and had asked the forum members to help me decide between a Ranger and a Terri, but with the EcoLpi, I get the tow capacity I need without the fuel bill of a SUV. I'm setting up my XR8 to be a track car and the LPi can tow it to the track. First impressions: Its HEAVIER than the EcoBoost. I mean, you can really feel the extra weight of the 6 and the LPG system. The front end is noticeably heavier and it shows when going through corners. Its not bad, but just is heavier. That said, it pulls like a train from so low down, its amazing! I can see towing is going to be a breeze with this car. There is just so much torque so low. The suspension is much softer than the EcoBoost as well and it appears the ride height might be higher (or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me), but only just. It really does glide on the road. Fuel consumption is sitting at 16 litre/100 at the moment with mixed city and motorway driving. I'm not sure how much savings are to be had but at the moment, its not much between the EcoBoost and EcoLpi with the equation slightly favouring the Lpi. Especially when you put the cost of services into the equation (capped price for the EcoBoost is $245 vs $340 for Lpi) but I need the extra towing capacity. The ICC is also updated I noticed. The new GUI is nicer than the EcoBoost (2012) and the touchscreen is also a lot more responsive. There are new maps out for these cars so I'll check to see if the new maps still ask me to make a U turn on the Story Bridge when I go there (last time I drove up!). I would say the EcoBoost is more fun to drive and a little bit more of a drivers car than the EcoLpi. I got the goo kit instead of a spare as I have 4 17" FG XR6 wheels in the garage so figured I'd use one of them as a spare for now. The kit comes with a pump as well which should be handy to top up the tyres when cold. I Need to find a non directional tyre though as a spare. All in all, very happy with my present! Looking forward to many kilometers of fun at low price! As I've said before, I just cant understand why these cars arent selling especially with the great deals Ford are doing on these cars given the new VF. Next car, The last GT! Cheers, A very lucky Kypez

I'm assuming the girlfriend and the missus (spoken pronunciation of Mrs) are one and the same....or not?
Anyhow congrats on the car......

Hahaha... let me Clear it up! She is my girlfriend and soon to be missus so I just reference her the same. It was late last night and I didn't notice I used both terms!
She liked the ecoboost so she started using that car as her car was pretty old.

You can upgrade the ICC software in the ecoboost to match that in the new car. Some dealers aren't aware and some are giving the run around, but the difference is purely firmware. Go get your other half's car upgraded. |

Just an update, looks like I'm sitting at 17 litre/100 today. Hopefully I dont get as much traffic over the rest of the weekend.
