Howard Astill's 'Race Rock', otherwise known as 'the Pioneer coupe’ and was rebuilt as a tribute to his friend Leigh Demain to become 'Die Hard', with the Flag scheme designed by Geoff Haggerty...

Race Rock *Drools*
The Pioneer stereo in that thing sounded as awesome as the car looked. Was joint winner of Street Machine of the Year in '95. |

Because it has 428 on the rego plates guys are having a laugh intimating that it has a 428 V8 engine in it, which it hasn't.
I'd bet my lefty it's just on old 4.1 6 cylinder bog standard Falcon 500.

Ford Australia made the Zephyr before the Falcon was produced.

We're originally from Northern Ireland and my Dad's first car was a Hillman Minx followed by an Austin A40.
The grandfather was into Vauxhalls but we loved to see the big Fords, Zephyr, Zodiac, and so on. Road Warrior, that piece of information from you just highlights what a rich history Ford Australia has in producing and assembling cars. Cheers!

Interesting that it turned out to be a Ford! I assumed it was a Holden because it had 6 letters across the bonnet and I couldn't think of any other name with 6 letters (aside from Falcon, which it obviously isn't). It looks so similar to the Holdens of the era.

You'd be surprised what Ford Australia has both assembled and manufactured here since 1925. From the Tin Lizzie to the Territory, with a legion of models in between.

That could be either a '67 Bel Air or Impala. It's an Aussie-assembled model and the models offered were very limited compared to the US. So I assume Bel Air at the moment. I might search for the differences later tonight. |
