Anyone concerned about the recent LPG prices and where they are going to be in the future should read this link and sign the petition.....We need as many numbers as possible and also pass the link on to family, friends, business's and other car enthusiasts!

LPG is going up because the global gas price higher and they starting to export, so you would sell to overseas for more money too

Can I sign twice (once for the wife???!)
There is just to much self interest and breast beating in Canberra, these people live in such an atmosphere they wouldn't know what the real issues are since they will be payed regardless. |

When have these petitions ever worked?
I'm all for an enquiry, but there needs to be a collective voice and better media awareness.

I wonder what percentage of cars actually use LPG these days?
I see more and more Hybrid Toyotas being used as taxis, and as both Ford & Holden closure is nearing I see this trend continue to rise more and more … hence is LPG even going to be relevant in say 5 – 10 years’ time when all drive imported or local Hybrid taxis? Sydney busses use LPG as well, but they are state funded so the pump price is kinda irrelevant. I haven’t seen any other big business use LPG in their fleets, did I miss something?

Ahh not quite. I think you’ll find that they use CNG. Comparing apples with oranges here.

Signed, hope it has some sort of impact.
LPG users have done the right thing to save a buck, and we know we are being ripped off.

There have been alternatives over the years and as the past ha dictated, big oil cos will not allow it to see the light of day, or buy the rights so it never becomes cheaper than what's on offer currently.

Hah...people who got fooled when LPG was cheap as chips and had no excise on it, and bought the government incentive to fit it to their car...and once a lot of people did, well look at that, they put a tax on it just like petrol...what a surprise...
It especially stings when they export the stuff for cents a liter, and it costs bugger all to "refine", unlike crude oil into petrol. |

The excise was a Plan formulated by Costello started in Dec 11,
currently it only adds 7.5 c to the price and will stop at 12.5 in July 2015 http://www.raa.com.au/motoring-and-r...ion/lpg-excise. although I dont agree, I can live with that. The current jump of 20c overnight, because of whats happening overseas is BS

Secondly, I don't object to companies generating a return on their investment, but what we are seeing now is simply blatant profiteering. Thirdly, it is ironic that we are being charged based on the global "market price," since there is no free market for LPG in Australia. At best, its an oligopoly, and in places like Perth it is practically a monopoly. Finally, the LPG industry has been happy to accept government subsidies to boost their market, they should now accept some government regulation to prevent price-gouging. |

Secondly, most companies set out to blatantly profit. Theres no shame in maximising profits. Thirdly, it can only be a monopoly, because people dont want to get off their *** and compete. And LPG is not unique as a source of fuel for vehicles, it competes with petrol, diesel etc. If you dont like it, use petrol. Finally, by subsidising end users, and not producers or suppliers etc, the government simply screws up the supply/ demand principles of a free market. |
