Hey guys, anyone know of a decent smash repair guy in the Illawarra (NSW)?
I'd do it myself, but I am pretty hopeless when it comes to this sort of work. I've got a Ford F100 1954 model. One side of the cowl has some rust in it. I have replacement panel. There's also a decent chunk out of one side of the cabin. Looks like an axe has hit it. Any recommendations? I rang around. Seems like these days smash repair guys are only interested in insurance work. Anyway, I just phoned six shops today and they all said the same thing; they don't do rust work. Hmmm Maybe TAFE are running some courses at night??? Any ideas gents? |

Astill Design in Berkley might be able to either do it or put you onto someone who can.

The main problem with rust repair is getting someone to angle grind (not oxy) out the affected area and properly seam weld / mig in zinc-alum plate - rather than just "bog-it-up" with wire mesh, cardboard and body-filler.
The other problem is the difficultly in accurately quoting and assessing the real extent of rust contagion until you actually start work on it. |
