Evening kind people,
As some of you AU fans are aware, I'm building an AU XR6 VCT wagon. So far, the body and interior is done, but I still need to do a head transplant. The mechanical side is easy enough, and the electrical side also looks easy as it appears I only need to fit one extra wire to the ECU for the VCT solenoid. So far so good. Now, my question is this - I want to fit the VCT ECU now, before the VCT head is fitted. Will this have any negative consequences in regard to ignition timing or fuel mapping due to having a cam which is stationary. In other words, does a VCT ECU change the ignition timing and fuel map when the cam is advanced/retarded? Or is it basically the same as a HP ECU, just with the VCT trigger?

I think your on your own Sox, you could try & find out for yourself but for me i would wait till the vct head is fitted just so nothing gets damaged ie: the ecu itself. Your call mate!
cheers, Maka

I can't see how the ECU could be damaged simply by not having the VCT trigger connected.
But I think you're right as in it's a suck it and see thing for the ignition timing and fuel map.
