Default Birthday party games for 8-9 year old boys?

Hello All, shortly I need to entertain a small group of around 5 or 6 boys for my sons 9th birthday party. It will be held at home and we have a fair amount of space inside and out available. How can I keep them entertained for a number of hours? I want to keep screen time to a minimum and have them outside as much as possible or inside being entertained while not running around out of control. I will be supervising them as much as possible. I have planned a few small ball games and a treasure hunt but thats about it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Tony

This isn't cheap, but my son had a Lazer tag party at home

http://www.lasertag.com.au/

It worked out cheaper than taking 10 kids to the lazer tag place and letting them have 4 games,

We thought they would be over it after an hour, but these things did not stop, in the end some of the kids went home and other parents stayed and it went on in to the night with kids V parents

I work with kids. I bought nerf guns and play call of duty style games but outside. Be creative with it too. Make forts and barriers out of cardboard boxes for them to shoot around etc.

or do stuff like this and have your own bathurst or nascar

Pass the parcel for sure, start off small and throw a random prize in every few layers. Size only limited by your imagination, though some of those giant plasma tv boxes would be a good giggle!

^ And the final prize in the teeny weeny package is a photo of the Plasma Box they started with, just to troll.

Jumping Castle is another option, but you`ll have to supervise them constantly, the adults that is.

But if you can afford the Laser gun games people have mentioned, or something similar, that will be a hit.

Have some exciting stuff to cook and involve them. Stuff wrapped in alfoil, like corn and butter in a small coal pit. I have done this with garlic prawns, garlic potato, honey baby carrots, corn on a cob. heaps of little parcels, par cooked, then wrapped, buried in the coal.

Kids love to be involved in cooking. and it is like everyone opening presents!

Give them 3 golf balls each, a flat surface, and see who can balance them on top of each other.

Pair them up, give them a roll of toilet paper, and they have to wrap their partners up as a mummy.
