Seems a bit silly if they do proceed with it. Whilst it was only from a focus group, Ford were considering it.

After decades of failed attempts I thought FPV had established itself well in this country.
So what do Ford do - Dump It. Now they want to start something else. Bit too close to 888 engineering for my liking.

Far too similar to 888 for my liking.

FPV has very little to do with this.
The plan/suggestion was formulated in the USA for all Ford performance.

I think this would be a mistake, but they don't have many legitimate options. Right now they've really only got 3 special models; GT500, SVT Raptor and Focus RS. Perhaps they should never have dropped the SVT Cobra in favour of the GT500, and I think branding the next hot Focus as SVT Focus RS could work.
I've seen people upset that FPV never got a shot at going global, but I don't know any other performance brands with performance in their name. |

Because there are more people perhaps familiar with svt than fpv outside of aus and nz.

The amount of times ive seen international articles misrepresent either HSV or FPV as Holden HSV or Ford FPV leads me to believe having a performance acronym with Ford in it is a no go.
But I think it also comes down to, do Ford want a new brand to distance performance models from grocery getters, or do they want something recogniseable as a fast Ford? |

The RS, SVT and to a lesser extent ST are much bigger than FPV ever was, that doesnt mean FPV's were no good though, before those owners get up tight.
Keep the ST/RS/SVT brands IMO

666 is considered the devil's number.
999 is considered the number of heaven (the opposite of evil) Cheers Vincenzo

999 is already taken by many different users.
It is also the emergency services telephone number for the UK, the world’s oldest having been introduced in 1937. It is also used by a fair list of other countries for the similar purposes. You’d think Ford could come up with something a little more unique for global use than a telephone number. |

Who cares what they call it, what they produce will be their advertising.
