Well that shocked me, I was expecting a version of the GT350 engine. Obviously Ford wants to market its EcoBoost engines in mainstream products by indirectly saying "If it's good enough for our top GT and Raptor, then it's good enough for....."

I really did not expect this. This is great, Ford are really kicking ass right now.

FIA regulations stipulate that turbocharged engines must not exceed 4,000cc. Using the 3.5 TT ecoboost V6 was the natural choice should the rumours of Ford racing at Le Mans on the 50th anniversary of their first triumph be true.

Yeah don't know. Kinda time to let the GT40 thing go? If anything I'd rather see the GT90 style expanded on. The power is impressive but what are they leaving an eco boost V8 for then?
Don't know, it's nice but it just had a generic supercar look to me. Still would say no but honestly I'd take the new Shelby and pocket the change.

There's nothing generic about it from above.

Wow, Ford have the GT350R a new 10 speed Raptor and a new GT.
Talk about smacking it out of the park. |

I would not be surprised if a V8 version was to show later down the track as an option, similar to the Audi R8 available in both V8 and V10.

Well hopefully helicam is used to track it then. I like the concept but they have been rather safe with the design. Like a mash of Ferrari from the rear and kosinegggabcd from the front. It's nice, just not sure many would know what it is as it goes by, blends in I guess.
That said it looks a million times better in that video about than the stills.

If you want your car to be aerodynamic (and this car will be raced), you can't get too fussy with the frontal design.

I think cobrajet is probably right, they might have made if modular to have 4,6 and 8 cylinders for different countries? That's if this whole One Ford bs is still going ahead.
If a 4 pot mustang hurt some people's minds then a 6 cylinder GT is going to raise Panadols sales

Wow. I wasn't expecting that. Great modern take on the old design language.
I want. The folks who worry about pedestrian safety probably wouldn't like the front too much, lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't mind it being a V6 to be honest, and was half expecting it. Don't forget some of the most desirable and fastest cars ever have been V6. Jaguar XJ220, Nissan GT-R, Noble M12, and all those Porsche exotics (i know I6, but still six cylinders).
I put my money on it the Ford GT will be up there with the best of them, if not well above them. If they decide to put a V8 in it later on, even better. |

No V8??? WTF where they thinking???
If people wanted a highly strung turbo V6 they would buy a Nissan GTR and not this ...

Why would a V8 have over the V6 besides the sound? The V6 has over 600hp, more than enough carry it around. Like you mentioned Nissan have no issue with a V6, Porsche don't have an issue with the flat 6 in their supercars.

The GT/GT40 name plate evokes history. Memories of taking it to the best in the world and winning with a V8.
A V6 is simply not true to it's roots regardless of how it performs. Old sound New sound Last edited by Falcon Coupe; 13-01-2015 at 11:09 AM. |

Should be a good car and probably a better race car, just missing the v8 sound.
