G'day all...What is the most iconic , most remembered Classic Ford Falcon prior to the XD .Is it automatically the 1971 XY GTHO Phase 3 for you ? If it is , what's your next most iconic/remembered model ?....Yep , for me the Phase 3 is it but coming in second for it's presence and looks would be the 1978 XC Cobra , just something about it...Love to see what everybody thinks..Cheers Rod..

XM/XP have aged gracefully, the yanks really had it going on in the styling department back then. Another memorable one is the coke bottle body XB coupe. XY's are nice, but a bit like an overplayed song on the radio.

For me, the XY GTHO will always hold it's special and well deserved place in history, but the X Coupe's are really, really growing on me.
Plus I will always remember "that" 1, 2 finish at Bathurst.

Yep those XC coupes finishing 1,2 at bathurst definitely define iconic to me, was to young to remember the earlier falcons racing, although they all are awesome and would give left nut to own any of them.

Yeah coupes for me. I really love the sunken tail lamps on the XA so probably XA GT coupe in red pepper with white interior for my pick.

It's gotta be the 4 doors for me! I love the XY phase 3 but I love the XW GTs as well.
I do like a well put together coupe but stock just can't compete for me to a stock GT 4 door.

XC GXL I thought the design team struck a great balance between European and USA. The wheels, vinyl roof, the large rectangular headlights, the touches of chrome, interior. I was a first year apprentice in 79 not long after the XD come out, I was driving past Coffey Ford in Ringwood they had an XC GXL 5.8, 4 on the floor, Metallic Dark Green, Black vinyl roof ex Ford Motor Company it looked sensational. I couldn't afford it.

G'day all...Thanks for your replies..Much appreciated...Every one you mentioned are just great..The XB seems to get a lot of attention as does the XA..and the XC...The GXL was/is another one I recall fondly , a XP hardtop is owned by a local builder ...what a beauty...it's a icy mint green colour , not sure it's proper name..and the XB GT is another..The Caltex mechanic here owns a 75'GT..purple/silver paint..So many classic Falcons...Re the XY GT..this isn't genuine but this is a pretty cool replica ...and listen to the bad mamma cams...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn0GcO2dB6c Then there's the real thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkHSm0gBZLc ..No wonder they are my favourite..and why a real one commands big bikkies..Cheers Rod..

The XY was always my favorite of favorites , and still is , but prior to the XY i always had a soft spot for the XR GT,
and even the stocker XR falcon 500 with the 289 and cruisomatic c4 in it , it was a bloody good cruiser , the first Mustang V8 powered ozzy falcon . |

Have to agree. Grew up with an XY Fairmont, and as kids, we had wallpaper with the famous 1-2 finish. How I hated it when my sister got that room, and the paper went :-(

XP pillarless coupe. Had one for 13yrs. Probably should have kept it but space is always a premium.

Nice car BTW In my rural city, there are 5 white XP coupes, and one more in a neighbouring town, my ex son-in-law has a red one, a guy in my car club has a yellow one, there is a blue one getting around town, I know of a grey one being built, these are just XP's, not XM's, there is plenty of those as well
