Morning all ,
Wife's ford focus engine warning light has come on , does this model have the DPF ? She changed jobs were the car use to be driven 1.5 hours each way , now the car only gets driven very short trips. I usually take it for a run up the highway every 2 weeks, to burn any crap out of the system. Does anyone own a TDCI ford focus, that's had a tune to delete the EGR ? Looking for advice/ how to maintain it , now that it's only driven short distance. Cheers Jason |

Whats the mileage? I had one of these and at about 150000 had the egr and assocaited areas cleaned of a massive build up of soot and carbon. its touch and go as all the other bits and bobs electronics etc can get affected. I was lucky and ran teh car till 278000kms and traded it on an LZ. Find a good mechanic or diesel specialist. Bloody good cars these sort it out and they just keep on keeping on.

Hello Kevino,
Mate it's got 170,000 on the clock , we had our mobile mech come check it out. Turns out the instrument cluster needs to be replaced, he cleared faults on dash but after a couple of start it was still coming up with faults. It also looks like the drivers side central locking needs to be replaced, the BCM isn't wanting to play the game either. He spoke to a guy that use to work at torque ford, and they've had to replace a few instrument cluster in the focus. But yes a bloody good car mate. Cheers Jason |
