What a legend, watching all those test matches as a kid, Marsh with the gloves on.
Bowled Lillee caught Marsh, the scoreboard would read many many times.

Indeed; the smell of beer, ashtrays and that catchphrase of “Lilian Marsh”. Brings back memories.
Glad he won’t suffer a “Covid-safe” send off. Last edited by Citroënbender; 04-03-2022 at 10:56 AM. |

A sad day all round for family, friends, colleagues and fans alike.
He truly was an icon of the game and gave so much back to it after he retired. RIP |

Great Keeper and Batter and I'm sure what a fun character in a team environment.....
Imagine those plane trips to the UK back in the day - Legendary the beer intake etc..... His batting when on song was brilliant to watch, aggressive swinging leftie. His banter behind the wicket. What a period for us watching cricket. RIP Marshy, we miss sportsmen like you.

Still remember him saying "No Mate" as Australia was about to bowl the infamous 'underarm' ball.
Good Bloke.

'Iron Gloves' turned out to be the most undeserved nick name ever given in sport.

I had the privilege of having a beer with Thommo not that long ago and he told me a story of one test match when they had been on the drink the night before and Lillie opened the bowling the next day.
The first ball went for 4 byes as Rod wasn't ready / never saw it and then the next ball he took an edge. Rod ran in to the huddle and said "Not bad getting a wicket off the first ball of the test match eh lads"... RIP Rod...
